What's the point of keeping Lea Michele's departure a secret?
It's not like the general public knows who in the world she is.
She should just have kept quiet instead of lying about it in her blog. I personally don't think that is a wise thing to do.

It's likely a secret for the following possible reason:
Her contract is not yet signed...still at the table.

Ah!
Who in their right mind wouldn't jump ship to rake in the $$$ playing Elphaba.

And I just want to know 1 thing.
Why do you people act like you'll be mortally wounded if Lea Michele plays Elphaba?

I agree. It's not like you have to go and see her. And at least she's not Hilary Duff or anything, at least she's legitimate Broadway talent.
Who cares who plays the part?
Honestly, if its that big of a deal to someone, they have an issue.
I missed something. Julia actually told people that Lea was her replacement? That seems kind of odd for her to do.
I dont know, I would LOVE Lea to play Elphaba (it potentially could make me see the show again), but yeah, after that blog entry, I dont see her going in there October 9th. Like, I dont know, but the blog entry was specifically to tell everyone the rumor about her going into the show wasnt true, so it just doesnt seem like she'd just write that if she WAS going to be going into the show.
And that paragraph didnt make much sense
But hey, if she joins, thats awesome, but I just dont think she will be at this point and time.

if its true that Lea Michelle will be replacing Julia then there would be a new kind of hybrid fan......a SPRICKED fan!!!
No, really, was that covered already?
Also, it's Michele, with one "l."

Thank you! It's not earth-shattering. It will be okay, I promise.
And can someone please not post every single page that she said what she said on her MySpace? Maybe you should read the thread first. We KNOW.

I talked with the creative team member. It is true she will be joining a company of Wicked, she might now be Julia's FIRST replacement.
I have my tickets for October 7th and October 9th...I hope those are the correct dates!
^^
FIRST replacement? Do you mean they have two people lined up?

That's not belting. It's a strong head voice.

Possibly. They are not sure yet.

I think Lea's singing the best I've ever heard her here. She does the optional high note at the end, and sings some great notes.
I think she'll be pretty good.

There's nothing optional about that high note. It's written into the score. And she has her share of sour notes in this performance. So if that's the best..... well, good luck to her.
That note isn't really required. Most of the time the girls go lower on it than it sounds in that performance, or on the OBCR.
It's preferred, but they don't have to hit it every night.
can we be more specific about this optional note?
because it sounds the same to me...
more yelling, i suppose. is that optional?
I guess you could say it that way.
I've listened to certain...recordings where you can tell that during some shows they go for it, but it's lower most of the time, or so I've noticed. When I sat on stage 6/28, it wasn't as high as it was during the Drama Desks/that performance at the mashup.

Do you think that note is higher than any other note in the Reprise or something? Because it isn't. In fact, by the end of the Reprise she's already sung that note a few dozen times.
I've never heard anyone who has to sing that harmony NOT sing that note. Maybe it was flat, but they didn't just opt not to sing it.

Hey everyone!
So i have been getting alot of letters asking if im going into Wicked in October. Sadly that rumor is not true I want sooooo badly to Elphaba, so maybe if we keep the rumors going it'll happen soon:) It would be so hard to leave Spring Awakening, but to play in Wicked would be amazing! Eponine too would be fantastic!!!! So as of now no green
But lets keep our fingers crossed and say our prayers!!!!!!
