That twitter thing - Lena totally trolled everyone here and we bought it big time lol.
Throw about Kerry Ellis?
she replaced Nicole in London, she has some Broadway form with Wicked playing Elphaba.
However it's hard to get someone who will shift tickets like Nicole can and have brilliant singing ability.

I honestly think they'll go with someone with some cross-over name recognition.
I would love Jennifer Hudson, Carolee Carmello, Liz Callaway (she was Grizabella on Broadway before), Shoshana Bean, Kelly Clarkson, Sara Ramerez.

Stockard Channing, Sara Ramirez, Christine Ebersole, Lesli Margherita. Rotate them thru every month.
Sara Ramirez would be a great choice

Forgot to go for the more obvious - Nathan Lane
Heidi Blickenstaff said she'll play Grizabella. The search is over.

Dame Judi Dench.
After all these years, she can finally play Grizabella like she was meant to!
Kerry Ellis!!!!
Julie La Verne hasn't worked in awhile, why not give her a shot?
In my wildest dreams, Patti LuPone.

Lol - it was never intended obviously, but the casting of Grizabella now is becoming a publicity magnet for this revival!

While we are on the subject of the character, can someone please explain to me the bizarre new costume they have given Grizabella in this production? In particular, her wig… Why does she have long gray hair? Whoever saw a cat with... long hair? She looks like a Yorkie.
I'm not even into the second page here, but damn, Patti would be awesome!! Time to bury the hatchet?
Just imagine it...really.

this is probably my favorite response to any post ever.
Oh! Katharine McPhee would be splendid.
Oprah!
(I'm just going to keep suggesting her for everything since I read about how she's looking for a Broadway project to star in...)

I nominate Anne Brummel. She played her 12 years ago on tour.
Never mind, I take my answer back. Bring in Sarah Brightman just for the plot twist factor.
