While I also like Jessie Mueller, there's no way she'd leave Waitress right now for CATS. It might be nice to give it to an unknown, though I think they need a star for the role to bring in revenue...

I would have suggested Heather Headley but she's already got a gig
I was under the impression it was going to be Lena Hall.
Isn't it obvious? Patti LuPone.
I would love the idea of Beverly Knight making her Broadway debut. She's already played the role in London.

Yasss.
Y'all should never be producers.

Damn. Beat me to it.
Everyone thinks I'm being sarcastic with this suggestion, but what about Nicole Kidman??? She has the fading beauty, the glamour, and the gravitas to play Grizabella. She'd be perfect and probably win a Tony. She's also bring in the crowds. Can you imagine how fierce she'd be???
Stephanie J Block if she wasn't already booked

I was also thinking Lena Hall.

That's actually not a bad idea, but TBH I don't think she has the vocal abilities to sing Memory. Maybe if they lowered the key a bit. I thought she was terrific in Moulin Rouge and sounded quite nice for the most part, but Memory would prove challenging to her I think.

Yeah, someone said it is going to be Hall.

I'm sure she wouldn't do it (nor do I think it would be the best use of her talents) but I think Lady Gaga would be amazing.
I don't know the timing of this revival with respect to The Color Purple, and she probably wouldn't do it, btut Heather Headley gives perhaps my favorite performance of "Memory" I've ever heard after Betty Buckley in this clip:

Rachel Tucker would be amazing! However it is unlikely as she is returning to the West End to play Elphaba for the 10th Anniversary of Wicked.
If it is Lena Hall then I have to see it...so I'm gonna say Rebecca Naomi Jones would be great.
I still think they are aiming far too young.
