If it is Lena Hall then I have to see it...so I'm gonna say Rebecca Naomi Jones would be great.
I still think they are aiming far too young.
Beyonce!
Lea Michele!
Sutton Foster!
Sierra Boggess!
Kate Shindle! (actually, why not Kate Shindle?)
I think some different choices would be Charlotte D'Amboise, Donna Murphy, Patina Miller, Sherie Renne Scott, and I'm going to second whoever said Alice Ripley would be interesting
By the time this thread ends, we're just going to have a monstrously vast and random array of talented Broadway leading ladies
Someone on another thread brought up Carolee Carmello if Tuck closes. I, for one, am all behind this! She's a great talent who would sing Memory magnificently!
Can we rescue Sierra Boggess from School of Rock so she can play Grizabella?

If ALW has his way it will be someone younger than what most expect for Griz. He loved all the young belters (Nicole, Kerry, Beverley) for the London revival. Although I suppose it depends whether the Producers now take the lead on who they want?

IMO she is way too young to play Grizabella. Also, she has a beautiful operatic soprano, but her belt is lacking in my opninion...I don't know if she would do Memory justice.

Ha! I was going to say Jacke Hoffman.

Boggess is one year younger than Buckley was when she played the role.
Alice Ripley - her voice is heading into Betty Buckley territory - and she'd act the heck out of it. But would she do it?

I was really looking forward to Nicole, next choice for me would be Lena Hall.
I mean, if we're just throwing out our favorite young actresses, Annaleigh Ashford. Actually, she would be great, genuinely. The thing about Griz is that she could be played by anyone. There isn't a specific Grizabella type, as there are for other characters. So any actress you say objectively wouldn't be wrong. She's a sad cat.

So first she plays a dog and now a cat on Broadway?

Bob, Kidman will be in Photograph 51, her much acclaimed and Olivier award performance, next season on Broadway; and that actually does have a good chance of getting her a Tony

Both of whom die in the end. Coming in the spring of 2017, "A Little Hermit Crab Named Kevin," also starring Miss Ashford.
Pregnant Annaleigh Ashford as Grizabella would be quite...something.
I think Caroline O'Connor or Ute Lemper would be fantastic.
Sutton Foster would be perfect!

That was obviously the goal. :)
Lea Salonga played it in Asia and I am all about it. But if it's Lena Hall I will be thrilled!
