Ok, just watched his Subway Hairspray thing on the site.
1. Yes, probably gay, but -
2. Absolutely briliant! Very entertaining.
12..13... Whatever.
Have ANY of you done what this kid has done?
I doubt it.
No...but I've done what this kid is going to do. LOTS of times.
Oh...and Dirty Rotten Guy...you need a thicker skin, baby!

"But - unless he's putting on an act - THAT'S HOW THE KID ACTS!"
Which, according to some people on this board, is unacceptable. Imagine, being who you really are. What is this world coming to??
"i hate the stereotype that if youre a guy who likes Broadway, youre gay..."
I hate the stereotype that if you're a guy who likes sports, you're straight.

- Gwen Verdon was a sex goddess. If I'm not mistaken - in her time she appealed to A LOT straight men. I don't go around worshiping her or trying to be her. I just simply believe she was the greatest female Broadway dancer of all time. And I feel I have to continue her legacy for future generations. But simply bringing up Verdon as a way to insult me just proved that you have a really catty nature. Another thing - Verdon isn't even a gay icon. She doesn't appeal to the gay community like Carol Channing does. Pointless to bring her up.
I have no idea who she appealed to and didn't appeal to in the past. You're a gay teenage boy in the year 2007, not a straight man in the 50s, so you're part of the stereotype you tried to deride.
As for stereotyping guys as being gay, most of the time, many don't mind, unless you want a date with a girl. I say, if she doesn't adore you no matter what, maybe she isn't so hot.
Either way, you gotta ask for a date if you want the attention. It can be a great way to judge tolerance though, so it has it's merits overall.
Only your preacher really cares if you are gay and that is because he is afraid he might be forced to have to choose between explaining the reason for one being Gay and why a couple of old coots were so afraid of them. Really, that fear went the way of Ham being bad for you. Perish the thought! Time for some careful re-evaluation here and our throwing away what is old and outdated I think?
I also agree though, unless the kid has come out, no one really has the right to decide for him right? Nor place judgment on him either, except for his acting and singing, which will be varied depending on your ability to hear notes, so it seems.

I just hate it when people stop me on the street and say, "Hey, you look just like Robbiej." That offends me.
Well, he did seem a bit nervous... I mean... you would be too if you were speaking to a Broadway audience and a tv audience of millions (one hopes). He is ...who he is.. (whatever that may be). We know he can act ...and he can sing... Does anyone know if he can dance? So, he's a potential triple threat. It's to his benefit to develop his talents. An actor has to have options... especially with the limited number of acting roles on television /film. He can always try out for musical theatre. Although there is more diversity in television and film, there is still an entrenched environment of homophobia. The theatre world, I dare say, is more accepting and welcoming of diversity. Good luck to him... "that's all I have to say about that.." from RC in Austin, Texas

I think he's FABULOUS--I love Ugly Betty and I love him. I think it's great the way his family on the show accepts him for what he is and doesn't try to change him. I wish that there had been a character like this on TV when I was growing up--if I believed in role models I would say he is a great one. And to all you nasty, bitter queens (who use a Carol Channing dummy as their avatar)all I can say is "Pot--Kettle". He's actually doing something good with his life and not just making nasty comments on a message board.

THANK YOU! He's 12 years old for God's sake! Who cares if he is gay or not? He may not even know himself - he is a child. Not every effeminate little boy grows up to be gay, just like not every sports-loving little boy grows up to be straight. Leave the poor kid alone. He probably gets enough flack from other kids, he doesn't need it from a bunch of (supposed) adults too.

Fosse76- How would that have been a good idea for them to replicate a scene from a TV show? Everybody that doesn't watch Ugly Betty wouldn't have gotten it. They would just be confused.
They wouldn't have got that it was a scene from the show, but they would have got that this brilliant young actor was doing a kickass job of 'Good Morning Baltimore'. See, it works on multiple levels. :3

My guess is they wouldn't be paying attention to his performance, they would be to busy trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

It doesn't matter. The scene itself wouldn't have needed to be in context for non-viewers of Ugly Betty. The Oscars do crap loike that all the time. What makes it funny is that there is this 12 year old boy singing showtunes on the subway. They didn't even introduce him as it is, so most people might not even realize who he is.

Just like Steven Sater!
I almost typed that with a straight face!

The Oscars do "crap like that" from movies that actually relate to the awards, not from random television shows.
I love this kid. He's such an inspiration to teenagers and preteens, plus he's freaking adorable. But... was he doing the presentation in character, or was that really his personality?
I hope that MARK INDELICATO doesn't read these posts.
With the ratings "Ugly Betty" gets on a weekly basis, I seriously doubt Mark's appearance is what confused the television audience. I can hear Middle America now, "Who the hell are these people singing and dancing?"
I thought he was awesome, if he went to my school, he'd totally be in my group of friends.

- Why do you keep talking to me like I AM 12 years old? lol. I don't want to argue with you. But I hate feeling like I'm being belittled. I am a young man who yes likes others of the same sex. I hate labels. I hate how people have to be gay or straight, then if you're in between you're treated like an outcast.

But you said that you were bothered by him because he was a stereotype. I was just pointing out that you were another stereotype, clearly one you're more comfortable with.
I don't want to argue with you, either, but it doesn't take a shrink to figure out if the kid bothers you on some level it has something to do with something inside of you.

He's not putting on an act. He is exactly like that on talk shows. Do you really think a 12 year old would pretend to be effeminate?
Broadway Legend Joined: 5/27/05
No, of course not. That's my point. If that's how he acts naturally, don't hang it on him because embodies a stereotype. The kid's just being himself. Until society beats it out of him, at least.
