re: Who was the best AIDA?

Heatherrrrr.

It closed because ticket sales were low. They weren't low, but they were low in Disney terms.

ETA -- Heather's the best, Saycon was my favorite; I don't know why I feel I have to draw a distinction, though.

Man, oh, man I hope Heather comes back to Broadway soon.

re: Who was the best AIDA?

I never saw Heather but I feel she annunciates (sp?) too much on the OBCR.

Personally I liked Deborah Cox and Saycon Senghbloh.

re: Who was the best AIDA?

I'm sure other Aidas were good, but to me Heather Headley is the Aida. I would love to see her back on Broadway, or even better in the movie version of Aida with the rest of the original cast.

Saycon
"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien

Sparkless - given the time frame, you probably saw Simone.

re: Who was the best AIDA?

Heather, no question. The entire original cast was drop-dead amazing!

re: Who was the best AIDA?

As far as I'm concerned the only Aida there will ever be is Leontyne Price. That was an Aida in a real AIDA.

re: Who was the best AIDA?

I saw both Simone and Heather...while Simone wasn't bad, I never felt like she had the umph (for lack of a better term) that Aida needed...

Heather, was then and still is, Aida to me. She so completely encompassed everything about Aida to me. (And a shoutout to the rest of the OBC, who also were beyond amazing in their roles)

re: Who was the best AIDA?

Heather was definitely the best one I saw. I think I saw 5 or 6 of them.
I hung out with Cheyenne Jackson in his dressing room waayyyyyy before he tickled D2.

Dollypop, too funny! re: Who was the best AIDA? (True for Verdi's Aida!)

Heather was the best. I saw her when it was in previews in Chicago. Adam's understudy was in the day I saw it. I think he was actually more fit for the role than Adam.

Heather does need to get back to where she belongs. She won a Tony afterall! Knock it off with the R&B records!

re: Who was the best AIDA?

Absolutely Heather Headley!

re: Who was the best AIDA?

I saw the Broadway AIDA while it was still in previews. I walked out because it was a travesy of Verdi's masterpiece.

PAULETTE IVORY

She was on the National Tour with Jermey Kushnier's Radames. They knocked the show outta the park, great chemestry, fantastic performances.

re: Who was the best AIDA?

Heather Headley. Amazing.
That whole OBC was incredible. Not one of my favorite shows, but I went back to see it several times just because they were all so amazing.
