It's a shame that The View doesn't promote Broadway as much as they used to. We hardly see any musicals performing on the show.
I always enjoy it when they have Broadway guests though. I've also noticed that Sunny Hostin is an avid theatre-goer! Whenever a guest (specially actors in straight plays) comes to the show, she's seen the production.

This is likely due to The View now being run/considered a "news" program instead of an "entertainment" program as in 2014 the show's production oversight went from ABC Daytime to ABC News. If you have noticed The View rarely does puff pieces or even traditional celebrity interviews that most talk shows do. Instead of the traditional witty banter, anecdote, and plugging of most talk show celebrity interviews, The View's celebrity interviews always revolve around some current event, even if they are promoting a movie/tv show/book/play.... The rare exception to this is for Disney based projects, but even then there is normally a "hot topics" question, with GMA, Live with Kelly and Ryan, or Jimmy Kimmel doing the more fluff interviews. Add to that when they do have a guest, now a days, its more likely a political or current events guest then a celebrity.

I believe that's Sunny Hostin's job - to go and see the show the night before the guest appears, so she can ask questions and sound 'genuine' when interviewing the guest. ( I have a feeling they all have the opportunity to go and see it, but it may not fit in each person's schedule. Sometimes Sarah Haines would attend a show with her.)
Same when a book comes out - they all get a copy a few days before the author is on the show. Each one seems to read a chapter or two and ask questions from that chapter - none of them seem to read the whole book in a day or two.
They also see pre-screenings of a movie before one of the stars come on the show; same with TV shows. Again, I believe it's part of their job - to familiarize themselves with the project they are going to talk about.

Now would be the time - she's off from "The View" for the next four weeks. Maybe some stunt casting can sell tickets?
Which reminds me, there was speculation that now would be the time if she really wanted to do "Hello Dolly" (as she stated publicly back in March) to step into the role while the show is on hiatus. But I guess the producers nixed that idea when they announced it will close and Midler returned to close it out.
Speaking of Goldberg stunt casting - I know there was talk / rumor that she would be filling in to play the genie in 'Aladdin' either two seasons ago or the one before when 'The View' went on break for the month of August. It started when they had the actor as a guest, and he suggested it to her to fill in while he was on vacation that month - and she liked the idea. I recall her ending the conversation with 'We'll see...we'll see...". I wonder why that never panned out?

Actually, VIEW watchers are the audience for every B'way show - no matter where they are watching the show from on their television. They may very well be the B'way tourist in the weeks to come. They may be deciding on a show to go and see - either solo, with a friend, or with their family - and Whoopi's voice may be their only connection to reviews of "what's out there". So if they've been following along for the season, they have at least three options right now: SpongeBob, Summer and HOH.

I doubt she or the show would be crazy enough to remove the first trans actress from a Broadway show for stunt casting...

Just go see the comments on the Bronx Tale final curtain call on Facebook. A high volume of them were people who wanted to see the show and are surprised it's closing?! And those are all people who seemingly knew about the show, so it's a process getting people to go to a show (for some reason).
