I'm addicted to Broadway musicals, but I'm from a country that doesn't have musicals productions, so I try as possible as I can, to buy the souvenirs from the stores on the theaters or online. Recently, I've seen pictures and vlogs of Wicked (my 2nd favorite show after Phantom) and found out that they sell on the bar a beautiful cup with the quote "So much happened before Dorothy dropped in", and instantly made me want it for my collection. Unfortunately, I'm not 21 yet and the only pictures that I found out of the cup were with it filled with alcohoolic drinks (like wine and the Ozmopolitan mix). I want to know if it only comes if you order an alcohoolic drink, or if it comes with the non-alcohoolics too.

Well, if you found one, it would probably be through something like e-Bay. Either way, if you order one to be delivered to you, it will not be delivered with a drink in it. If you order one in the theater, I believe they’d just sell you the cup with a non-alcoholic drink or just empty (at same price).

I've never had a problem getting one when ordering a soda or water, since the alcoholic drinks are expensiiiive. At Frozen they even sold me just the cup since I didn't want a drink.

Cool! I'm so in love with these cups! I'l try to get one from Chicago too, it's so "sassy" and elegant at the same time... I hope I can get it! Thank you all for the replies :)

I always saw them and thought they looked cool but, until we got my niece a soda at a show we took her to, I didn't realize what a bargain they were. To me, they're easily the best deal for souvenirs on Broadway. When you're just getting a soda, I don't think I've paid more than $10 for one. Had a couple of shows, you can even bring it back for a free refill at intermission. Think how much a plain soda in a paper cup cost at most events. In this case, you're getting one or two sodas and then an awesome collectible cup. It's now my go-to souvenir.

For those who don't want to see the show to purchase one, you can get one on eBay for $7.00 USD (plus $4.50 USD Standard Shipping):

Also, if you don’t want to spend anything, just wait until after the show. After I saw Hello, Dolly!, I looked for a tumbler that someone had left behind. An usher actually helped me find one. Kinda gross, but once you wash it, it’s like brand new. Lots of people leave their tumblers at their seat after they drink out of them.

Note that if you purchase drinks from the bar, you have no choice but to get these cups (at least as far as soft drinks). The Shubert Organization provides free refills (for soft drinks); Nederlander requires you to make an entirely new purchase (cup and all), and Jujamcyn will refill the cup for a discount. Other than Frozen at the St. James, I don't know if any other Jujamcyn houses sell show-specific cups (I know they only sell a generic Jujamcyn cup at Book of Mormon).

I've done this at several shows as well and I consider it recycling. The numerous plastic cups that are discarded in and just outside the theatre are headed for a landfill somewhere, so why not grab one or two instead of buying one, which only causes another to be manufactured?

As "Lot666" said, I don't think this is gross too, actually is a really good idea principally for someone like me that don't want to spend so much money. I can get a lot of them with no cost, and recycling at the same time.

Good to hear that! I was looking for something small to carry anywhere, because I drink a lot of water, but I couldn't find any bottle on the musical stores (and if it exists, isn't being sold anymore). These cups are like heaven, because they are usefull and a must-have Broadway souvenir.

When I sold merch at West Side Story people would often come up to our stand and ask if we sold those cups and I'd tell people the bar did. Sometimes people would really want one during walk out when the bar was closed and get really angry we wouldn't sell them one even after we explained we couldnt, they're locked up, we are separate companies, etc. I'd usually suggest they hang out for a few minutes because people leave them on the bar or ask an usher to help them find one in the house. Some people were so happy for that suggestion and others acted like I told them to go lick the bathroom floor. I'd say just to wash it in hot water and it's the same as going to a restaurant and drinking out of a glass there.
