I also think they should make into a TV mini-series of the book. Elphaba-Natalie Portman
Glinda-I'm not sure...someone like Julia Styles maybe?

Posted: 4/19/05 at 4:08pmMaybe they could do somethng different in the movie. Maybe put a twist on it, like having two Glinda's and two Elphaba's. One when they are both young and one when they are older. I think that would be kind of cool.

but anyway... I liked the Adam Pascal idea. I also thought that the first time I heard Fiyero on the OBC recording... Adam would be great in this role

Posted: 4/20/05 at 12:12amWell ironically enough, Norbert replaced Adam I believe as Roger in RENT and even before that was an understudy so there you go. Apparently the casting people for RENT saw the similarity in their voices. They do sound very similar and I think Adam could really have fun with the role of Fiyero.
I wanted to get something that an "ex"-junkie like him would really appreciate and cherish....it's a brick of heroin shaped like a heart.

Elphaba: Emmy Rossum
Glinda: Kristen Bell (watch "Reefer Madness")
Fiyero: Timberlake or Usher (someone who can sing, dance and is young)
Wizard: Gary Oldman (yes, he sings)
Morrible: Streep is a good choice but I doubt she'd do it, so I think someone like Tracey Ullman or Queen Latifah
Both Menzel and Chenoweth will be close to forty (if not past it) when they finally film this musical, so they'll go for a much younger cast (they'll go for one anyway; both Menzel and Chenoweth are too old *now*). In five years Rossum will be 23 or 24; Bell will be 29, as will Timberlake (not sure about Usher).
Christina Aguilera would be an awful choice -- her popularity is on the wane, she can't act and she has that "ho" thing to contend with.

I haven't seen wicked yet, but I have heard it and I would absolutely love to hear Christina sing the part. Can you imagine her singing Defying Gravity? I would pay good money for that. I don't know if she could handle the acting part of it though, I saw her on SNL and I don't think she did a very good job acting in a few simple sketches. But I also think she could relate to the Elphaba character very well. The whole lonely outcast thing is the whole theme of her last album. but then again by the time a movie gets made she may be to old.
