I say that has a person who has seen some pretty kick-actresses in the role
The fact that you have seen the likes of Reiber, Brescia, and Dodd is what makes the fact that you consider Nicole to be on their level even more amusing.

You left out Block and Ellis.
Once again, it's an opinion.
Also, I didn't say she is on the same level as them, I said I enjoyed her more.
Stop trying to twist my words and just except the fact that you can't argue my opinion.

You left out Block and Ellis.
I did that on purpose.
Stop trying to twist my words and just except the fact that you can't argue my opinion.
I'm not twisting anything. I'm using your own words. You referred to Nicole as a powerhouse, not me.
I've also ACCEPTED the fact that arguing with you is pointless.

Yes, I referred to her as a powerhouse.
It's an opinion.
Are we getting anywhere yet?

Posted: 5/23/09 at 1:07amOf the 8 Elphabas I've seen, Nicole is at the bottom of the list in terms of acting. She's near the top of the list in terms of acting. I'd put her in the middle overall. I've liked all the Elphabas I've seen though. The Glindas I've seen are a different story...

what does everyone think of Kerry Ellis on Broadway? Was she a good fit compared to oher Elphaba's?
I can only speak when seeing her in London, and she was an outstanding peformer then. I do admit her acting was not great, but after coming back from Broadway, she had improved significantly. Her voice has always been amazing.

Posted: 5/23/09 at 4:17amIn my opinion....I saw the Original Broadway Cast and nothing can match them. I saw the 1st tour with Block and Kassbaum. Was not really impressed. Kassbauanm waa good, but seemed to be hopped up on meth the whole time. She just couldn't keep still! Block seemed to walk through the show. people who saw it on other nights disagree with me. It is a fun show. One I now care to listen to more than see bit, I will see it again in the fall. Not really looking forward to it, but I love the music. JMO

I thought Chenoweth and Menzel were god awful. Block was an improvement, but still very bland.. she just seemed "off". Kassebaum is probably the worst thing to happen to the role of Glinda. Kerry Ellis was another major dissapoint.. and it was only maginied by her pairing with Kassebaum. Neither were very good, but together, they seemed to magnify each other's faults - Ellis' Elphaba was a petite girl with a British accent and a legit soprano playing opposite Kassebaum's mouthy, big boned, belting mezzo-soprano Glinda... it was like they just ended up in the wrong costumes.
For my money, Shoshana Bean, Brandi Chavonne Massey, Donna Vivino and Coleen Sexton are the straingest Elphabas. Megan Hilty was a fantastic Glinda, Katie Clarke more than holds her own and I will GLADLY go to lengths for Alli Mauzey, Erin Mackey and Helene Yorke.

I came here to read a review and I find an argument with none other that adamgreer and it wasn't with me for once.
WoW2 never argue with him. It's worthless.
adamgreer, why do you continue to see the show if you don't even like Nicole that much?
I have seen 10 different Elphie's and I rank Nicole in the middle. She is only second in acting to Marcie and her voice is better than about 3 or 4 I saw.
Alli on the other hand is nowhere near my favorite Glinda's. Out of the 7 or 8 Glinda's I saw I would rank her maybe 4th or 5th overall.
"I sincerely hope that none of this thread's participants/antagonists intend to work with children or young adults."
I found this funny since adamgreer is a teacher.

Wow, I'm beginning to wish I hadn't asked how the show was doing...
But I guess if people clash so much over how good or bad the cast members are and it inspires this kind of throw-each-other-on-the-ground-yell-dirty-words-and-yank-out-each-other's-hair kind of debating, it can't be all that bad?
Wishing, you've done a great job of holding your ground. It's not easy to admit unpopular opinions. A lot of the Les Mis performers I love are really hated by the Mizzie community-- check out the avatar for one-- and I hate being told that my opinion is wrong.
By the way, just throwing in the little I know, I think Kristin Chenoweth is among the best performers currently working today... but I don't understand at all why Idina Menzel has been as successful and popular as she is. I've never liked her singing or acting at all.

MichaelUK92, from someone who saw Kerry Ellis in London and on Broadway her voice was shot causing terrible attendance and poor performances. She said herself that broadway didn't go the way she wanted it to.
HBP, you might not be able to prove an opinion incorrect but you can prove it stupid.
WishingOnlyWounds2, I think it's obvious they blast out Nicole's voice on the sound system far more than they do with others. Yes her voice is solid but it's not loud. If the mics went out you'd have trouble hearing her from the front rows. It's obvious in the video of her singing as Sarah Palin.

Honey, you can have an opinion that the opinion is stupid but you can't say one is- it's an opinion.
Have you seen Nicole? I highly doubt they raise her mic more than the other Elphabas as she would over power the ensemble which she doesn't.
Also, do you really think that is her real singing in the Sarah Palin video?

If I was one of those users I would say I so, really, I would. But, I'm not.

BroadwayBound yes, but I doubt Mel meant it other than a Mary Poppins reference.

Really now? I've now lost any ounce of respect for you which I might have had. That post honestly made my day.
