As we know The Wedding Singer is closing. Do you think Stephen Lynch will return to broadway?

I think I remember reading in an interview that he wasn't a huge fan of it. He said he loved the show, but that the 8 shows a week with all the dancing, lights, and fans was too much - and that he probably wouldn't do it again.
I also think I remember reading an interview with Lynch where he addressed this.
From what I recall, I think he said he wasn't sure if he'd ever come back, and although he has really loved doing TWS, stand up comedy and touring are where his heart is, and those are things he's missed and wants to get back to full time.
EDIT:
Here is the quote from the Broadway.com interview I was referring to:
"Q: So do you see Broadway as a pit stop in your career, or is it something you plan on pursuing?
A:Oh I'd consider it in the future, but I miss what I used to do for a living, so I'm sure when this is over I'm going to go back to that for a while. Recording and touring are always fun."
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
I could see Amy Spanger as a replacement for Jenn Colella in HIGH FIDELITY, if the show lasts long enough to need replacements that is.

I want him to come back.. a LOT actually.. however, after wedding singer, he needs to get back into the comedy- I was a stephen lynch comedy fan way before I was ever a stephen on broadway fan, and if I were to stop doing comedy for broadway, that would make me very VERY sad My ideal situation for him would be for him to do comedy for a while after WS, then come back to broadway in a couple years or something. WILL he? no idea... unfortunately from the sounds of it it sounds like maybe not. but, it would be awesome if he did both comedy AND broadway, cause he's amazing at both!!
and yes, I totally HAVE lined up roles for the other WS cast members after they leave :P lol
Laura: Christine in Phantom or Cossette in Les Mis (sure she may be a liittle past that point in her career, but she'd still be incredible)
Amy: Reno Sweeney in a revival of anything goes (she'd be so kick as its not even funny- and her blow gabriel blow? omg)
Felicia: Maureen in RENT (ok, again, sure, she's prob a bit beyond that point in her career, but I honestly do not care. She NEEDS to do that part. Can you imagine how hysterical over the moon would be!?! lol)
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.
snl, Amy is a bit young for Reno IMO. She'd make a wonderful Irma, though.

She needs to work at winning that TONY she's unjustly missed twice.
Too true.

FOAnatic and dancingthrulife04, did either of you *see* SWING? And did you *see* Karen Ziemba's performance in CONTACT? Explain how Benanti's loss was unjust.
I won't even start on Harriet Harris. It's more than evident that she was the stand out in the Featured Actress category that year, with Spencer Kayden as the clear runner-up.
I'd like to see the day that I open the New York Times and read that Benanti has been contracted to an 8 show a week Broadway production again. I wouldn't hold your breath on that Tony win.

Yes I did see Karen Ziemba in CONTACT and I was touched by her performance...but I feel she's delivered better ones. So I felt Laura was more deserving.
And I'm sorry. I just didn't like ANYTHING about TMM. I enjoyed the dancing and was amused by some of the numbers. But, I just think the show itself wasn't deserving of any of the awards it won, save for Sutton. I love Harriet Harris...but I believe Laura's performance took a great deal more heart and she delivered ten fold. So, yes, I wanted her to win again.
You're completely wrong about Benanti being in another show soon. She's a remarkable actress and singer and her absences from ITW were from a legit injury which (by not recieving proper medical care) came back to haunt her in THE WEDDING SINGER as did another medical problem.
Her month away from TWS allowed her to get the attention and proper care that she needed and she WILL be back on Broadway in a Leading Role. Mark my words.

Will you be paying the skyrocketed insurance premiums to allow her the responsibility of a Leading Role on Broadway?

Although I think Laura is one heck of a talent, I agree that it is highly unlikely she'll ever get a lead in a big Broadway show again. She has just consistently not been able to sustain an eight show a week schedule, and whether it's her fault or not, producers aren't going to want to lay money down on someone who is never going to be there.
In regards to her most recent bout of attendance issues, it seems no one can get the story straight on why she was out of TWS so consistently (and for that long leave of absence.)
FOAnatic here is claiming it was a combination of her old injury and something else, but all the other people that claim to be 'in the know' have said that it was completely unrelated to what happened before and was something different (although they refuse to specify what that something was.) People that are in the show even claim to not know why she was gone for such a lengthy period.
I guess we'll never know what really happened...

yeah, i'd love to see Laura in a completely new musical, same with the other cast members, especially Amy. Amy NEEDS to win a Tony soon!!! she really deserves one! :) EDIT: just read somethingwicked's comment, and I do agree to some extent. i would absolutely LOVE laura to get a new show, but im afraid producers wont hire her because of her past ailments. i hope they give her a chance, and hire her, because she is so talented!

FOAnatic, I don't know about Swing, but Laura did not have 'great' attendance in Nine.
She had her surgery three weeks before previews and herself admits to being out substancially in order to recover. Yet again, although not necessarily 'her fault,' it is still not debatable that she missed a select number of performances, regardless of why.
I don't understand why Benanti's fans get so flustered when people say it isn't likely she'll get hired to star in a major production on Broadway ever again. That opinion has nothing to do with a personal dislike of Laura as a person nor as an entertainer.
The bottom line is that ANY performer with an injury so significant that it has consistently prevented them from doing eight shows a week production afer production after production is going to lose jobs, plain and simple. It doesn't matter if it's Laura Benanti or Idina Menzel. Producers just aren't going to want to invest in a star that is going to be frequently absent, regardless of why. It's a fact of life and of the business. Take it or leave it.

Forgive me...I meant she had a great attendance in ITW. That is, prior to her injury. But she did leave the show shortly thereafter so I don't count the absences due to her injury.
NINE was unforunate because of the close proximity of her surgery. But, needless to say I saw the show more than enough times and she was always in. She may not have had a stellar attendance record...but it was nothing near a Donna Murphy in WONDERFUL TOWN.
It's also unfortunate that she had to take so much time off of TWS to get the medical attention and recovery she deserved because it will affect her. I don't deny it will create obstacles. But I feel her talent still speaks for itself and I know there will be a producer willing to take the chance on her. And he/she will be very happy they did.

Who knows the future?... someday, decades from now when he can't get a paying gig anywhere else he might end up doing the 2027 revival of THE MUSIC MAN.
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart; and you'll never walk alone.
Also, in terms of Laura getting another job and her being injured. If I recall correctly, it's up to the union or producers (one of the two I forgot which one) to make sure that a preformer gets proper medical care during a show if they need it. Being as she clearly didn't get proper medical care and being like it sounds like she was sent to the wrong doctor, I think that the producers would realize that and consdier to hire her again.
If the producers were the ones who sent her to a bad doctor and they ****ed up by doing so. Then, other producers would realize this and give her the beniffit sp? of the doubt.
And, don't go giving me this crap about how ALL broadway producers are justin it for the money and that is all they care about. Sure, ther eare MANY business men in this country including broadway producers who love thier money. But, that doesn't mean that they are bad people who love their money. There are still lots of great people who love their money.
I think that she will take a lot of time to rest up and get better. If you ask me, I think she took TWS too soon after ITW in terms of leting herself heal. So, she would rest a whole lot and then get a leading role. Also, if she is good enough talent wise to get a leading role in a show. Then, there are small chances that she would choose to audition for a supproting role.
