re: XANADU OBCR - Release Party Thread!

Why?

A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

re: XANADU OBCR - Release Party Thread!

the difference is that even though i LOVE madonna (long live the queen lol) if she released a bad album i would say so..Bedtime Stories was a dreadful album and dont get me started on her films like Shanghi surprise, Next Best Thing, Body Of Evidence etc lol

Oh and im a HUGE loyal madonna fan and probably have over £50 thousands pounds worth of memorabilia ive been collecting since i was a kid, but even as a loyal fan you have to be able to accept when they do something bad

re: XANADU OBCR - Release Party Thread!

I bought 4 copies for friends & they all love it as much as I do.
I dk about "Young Frankenstein"... I thought the music in the show was just silly. If somebody gave me the OBCR for that I'd definitely exchange or re-gift it.

The pics!
SADM2 - believe me we would both prefere cast recordings of 'DSS' than 'Xanadu'!

re: XANADU OBCR - Release Party Thread!

Anyone know how long it usually takes PS Classics to ship?

I want to order them now so they can be shipped tomorrow and hopefully arrive in time for Christmas... is it possible?

re: XANADU OBCR - Release Party Thread!

Crucify me if you must, but I have to agree with the other posts about the OBCR not being up to par. I haven't seen the show yet, will be on 12/29, but listening to a selection of the OBCR made me want to sell my ticket. I'm glad people have posted that the actual live show is much much better. If you go to the Xanadu site, xanaduonbroadway.com, I believe Olivia Newton John's version of "Xanadu" plays. Why is this version still playing if the OBCR has been recorded/released? I just feel like Kerry's version of the song sounds more of a mockery than an homage to the source material.

On a positive note, Cheyenne does sound fantastic.

re: XANADU OBCR - Release Party Thread!

I ordered my copy of XANDADU last Tuesday...which means it should have shipped last Wednesday...which was ONE WEEK ago!!! Where is it?

Should I be worried...?

re: XANADU OBCR - Release Party Thread!

IMO, the problem with the OBCR is that there isn't enough of it. What's there is by no means a desecration. It doesn't run all that long and additional material could have been fitted on one CD to give more of a flavor of the ENTIRE experience. I had the feeling that it was done with a tight time schedule. I love what's there and wouldn't trade it for anything, BUT ---. (I'm going to the signing despite my caveats.) HUZZAH FOR XANADU!!!!!!!!

re: XANADU OBCR - Release Party Thread!

As much as I hate to admit it when I'm wrong, I have to say that the OBCR is really growing on me and I like it a million times more than when I initially heard it. My advice is to give it a few spins and then make up your mind. The only thing that still irks me is Kerry's first two lines in "Suddenly". It sounds like shes coughing up a hair ball. I havent seen the show so I dont know if this is intentional for the scene - if it conjures up a laugh or something but I'm learning to live with it. Is she even saying words in this part? If so, I cant seem to make them out. Regardless, I cant wait to see it 12/29.
