Whoo-hoo! Here's hoping ticket sales pick-up after the Tony Awards. If not --- that extension will be voided quicker than it was written-up.

I also love how people are saying that the box office will pick up after the Tony's. Of course, if the myriad of noms that a lot of you are expecting don't materialize, the attendance could drop off even further.

Does it have to sell out? No. If you look at last year's grosses the overwhelming majority of the time they were making money. The show only costs somewhere in the low 200,000 range to run per week. So as long as they're making above that, they aren't required to have a sell out house really. They had quite a few weeks over 300,000 and one at 460,000. I don't think they're being unduly optimistic.

It sold out on the April 23rd Matinee. Hence the SOLD OUT sign by the box office.
