This is very sad! What is the reason for the closing?
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
This is such sad news! It's not by any means a perfect show but it's a hell of a lot of fun and it's really the best time you'll have on Broadway right now.
I hope to catch it at least one last time before it goes...the shame is it got BETTER with time, too, so I'm sure the longer it ran the better it would've been getting...
Such a high-energy, brisk, really well-put together show. I really hate to hear that it'll be gone in a month.
I can't believe this. When I read it, I was sure it was a joke. But...I mean, we were all JUST discussing who they might get in as stunt casting after Whoopi. And when those threads came up asking what show would close next, never once did Xanadu cross my mind. This sucks! While I am glad that I got to see it twice (and once onstage, which I suggest everyone try at least once from now til the 12th), I am still so sad about this.
Damn I was going to go sit onstage for my birthday with some friends on the 18th but looks like the show will have gone dark by then! Really sad to see it go, it'll be missed sorely!
It had a good run, especially considering that some people thought it would close in a week. And whatever happened to that Korean production planned for this year? And is London still on for Spring 2009? Australia? China? The Philippines? It will have a good international life! I just started doing my own Danish translation!
I am just floored right now. No real words, just sad.
I will be there closing night and alot of times between now and then. My heart goes out to the cast and my fellow fanadus.
"And so I appeal to you, to keep me suspended in time with you. Don't let this moment die. I get a feeling when I'm with you, none of the rules apply. But I know for certain goodbye is a crime..."
When XANADU hit Broadway, a lot of people (including most of us) thought it wouldn't make it through the summer, much less to the Tony's and into winter of 2008. It overcame financing problems, poor initial sales, and an injury to the lead actor to emerge as one of the best musicals (and certainly most one of the most popular) of the season. This show exceeded everyone's expectations and will have a very healthy regional and international life. This thing was the little engine that could, and it did. Congratulations to XANADU.
Here's to hoping it makes its money back on tour and in London.
I thought it would at least last through the holidays with more tourists coming in. I got my stage seat to the last show.

Congratulations to everyone involved for making something so much more entertaining than I imagined it would be when I first heard of it.
Thanks for letting me laugh at Jackie and Mary and especially for letting me watch Cheyenne act and sing and roller-skate around in those cutoff shorts.

Its so close to the holidays. I cant believe they are not staying till January 4th. I am sad and shocked. I have a great seat for the final show though. I bet the on stage seats where pulled for V.I.P's involved with the show.

Looks like I ordered mine just in time then!
