The tour was cast before the closing, so no Kerry and Cheyenne et all won't be doing the La Jolla run.
And as for the set on tour. ALTAR BOYZ toured with a very similar set up (just SLIGHTLY larger than their set up at their 300 seat theatre at New World Stages) to it's NY counterpart, and it played FINE in bigger houses. XANADU will play fine on the road and be just as fabulous! :)
This may have been brought to everyone's attention already. If so, I apologize for repeat info.
Although Xanadu is closing on Broadway, it is going to have a life elsewhere.

XANADU
La Jolla Playhouse - November 11 - December 31, 2008
Top ticket price for Sat eve is $75
All On-Stage Seating: $25 (plus a $3 handling fee)
I will not be at the closing day show, because my work schedule doesn't fit in with it being at 3pm. So, I'm going to see it again on Wednesday evening. I bought my ticket today, and will be sitting in row J, seat 1. I can't wait. :) I enjoyed it from the front row, but I'm glad I will get to see the entire stage this time around, and not have it be boom in my face.
And because I'm seeing it on Wednesday, that means I did not go last night. My thing got out a little too close to 8pm, and I was too tired by then because I had to get up before 5am to get to the city by 8am. Besides, I think I will enjoy it better now because I won't be wanting to fall asleep.
Oh, and I had no idea that Kate Loprest was playing Amber in Hairspray too. Well, actually as her main gig. I saw that on Tuesday and she was out. And I saw her name up on the board for Xanadu as going on for Patti tonight. Of course I just checked both playbills to see if it was the same person.

Jeff....You're gonna have a LONG DRIVE as La Jolla is a part of San Diego...not LA.

Do you guys think it could extend/will extend? I got an e-mail from Telecharge saying I can switch my tickets to a different show (like non-Xanadu) since I bought Oct 14th tickets like m o n t h s ago. I am very curious if they will extend or not. Like when RENT pulled off that little marketing ploy, did Ticketmaster send out e-mails between like Jan-March about refunding people for tickets purchased after June 1st? Sorry if this is confusing and any help is appreciated.

Okay, so I'm geographically challenged... At least I was in the right state
San Diego is even better 'cause I have a friend who lives there.

Yesterday night at Xanadu:
Mary Testa, "why across the street at Equus, Harry Potter has yet to reveal his magic wand."
Tony Roberts broke character.
Going back on stage for Oct 3rd, was going to get tix for Oct 12, but forgot will be out of town that weekend.
UnderTheHill, Mary Testa added that ad lib during Whoopi's final weekend. I was at Xanadu during the first preview performance of Equus and I believe that's when she added that line.

let's just hope cheyenne goes into the the little mermaid after xanadu cos he would be fab in the role of prince eric. i would prefer him in the role than sean palmer as he has a better voice and better stage presence. he looks more like prince eric than sean too. if cheyenne has had rave reviews in xanadu and all shook up, imagine what the reviews would be like if he went into the little mermaid?
Huh? Do you honestly think TLM is a better show than Xanadu?
I think Cheyenne is at a place where TLM is a step down. I do think it would be a good fit for David Burnham right now though. He even looks like a Disney prince. Cheyenne would have been a killer Gaston though.
i didnt say that the little mermaid is better than xanadu. seeing his performances on youtube in xanadu, i thought he was great. i just implied that he would be a good prince eric because he did the workshop for it back in june 2005. i just think cheyenne jackson has a better voice than sean palmer.
His voice is amazing and definitely better than Sean's but I still don't think he's the right fit for Prince Eric. I think he's better than TLM. I hope he will originate a role next. There are roles I think he could be good in (Warner in LB, Corny in Hairspray, Fiyero in Wicked) but I don't know if that would be a step down for him right now.
anyone happen to be at the show tonight, Saturday 9/20? Jackie Hoffman made the most priceless comment about some of the onstage audience members that got a big reaction. A few young teenage girls and she said something about damn preteen girls that's why that crap show Wicked is going to run for another ten years and we're closing. Really priceless moment.
That comment made me really sad. And it's true.
