re: Xanadu to Rollerskate Off Broadway on Oct 12th

Between this and RENT, my heart hurts. It's been a good run and I'll always have nothing but fond memories.
You're hurt and you're scared because you doubt your own artistic ability.

re: Xanadu to Rollerskate Off Broadway on Oct 12th

I woke up this morning with my roommate walking into the room:

"aw... did you hear the news?"

I knew exactly what he was talking about... "Noooo..." He shook his head...

I ran to BWW and saw this thread. Xanadu is my baby!!! It can't close! I just bought tickets for the last show re: Xanadu to Rollerskate Off Broadway on Oct 12th. Damn you people with onstage seats! I wanted an onstage seat. How did I miss this last night?! Stupid philosophy paper!!

I am cursing the world today!!!

Forgive my craziness. I just woke up...

On the bright side, I think the creators made a piece that many colleges and enterprising theaters across the country will produce.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

re: Xanadu to Rollerskate Off Broadway on Oct 12th

This makes me very upset. I had tickets for October and now I can't see it (I never even got to see it! re: Xanadu to Rollerskate Off Broadway on Oct 12th). I need to contact the Helen Hayes theater, does anyone know the phone number? The ones I found were to Telecharge and Ticketmaster. Does anyone have the box office phone number? Thanks

re: Xanadu to Rollerskate Off Broadway on Oct 12th

Xanadu was a fun show and I was very sorry to read this notice. I'd hoped the Tonys would have given them longer legs than they ultimately did. While I never expected it to last much past January, I'm surprised that Xanadu's closing before [tos].

It really took us all by surprise re: Xanadu to Rollerskate Off Broadway on Oct 12th
Let's all storm the Helen Hayes and demand them to keep it open!

I still can't believe I (an original Fanadu) couldn't even get an onstage ticket. Well, at least I'll be there. Is tomorrow the 500th show? Anybody?

re: Xanadu to Rollerskate Off Broadway on Oct 12th

Well...dammit! What can I say? Thanks to the entire cast for creating a hilarious 90 minutes to take us away from the sometimes crazy world. I will fondly remember seeing the show a year ago (and falling in love with Cheyenne Jackson). The memories will live on with the CD and many YouTube clips. I have no doubt that these talented people will all be back on Broadway very soon!

Congrats to the entire cast and production team on such a long run! All though I'm sad to see it go, I'm still excited for it's stunt in Chicago, where I will definitely go and see it.

re: Xanadu to Rollerskate Off Broadway on Oct 12th

I posted this in the fanadu thread but felt it should be in here as well.

I just want to say I am so terribly upset its closing. I am so happy I saw it a couple weeks ago. It was possibly the most fun I have ever had inside a theatre. I am fortunate that the tour/sitdown production (rumored) is coming here to chicago. Who knows, maybe some miracle will happen and Kerry and Cheynne and Mary will all tour with the show.

I was just thinking that it would be awesome if they could coax Curtis back though I know that's not quite fair to Kyle. But maybe he'll show up for the final show ala Bob Martin in Drowsy Chaperone.

Kyle Dean Massey according to ibdb.com.

With the exception of Anika Larsen and Curtis it's all still OBC so it'll be nice to try to bring in Anika and Curtis. Curtis more so because of how many of the fans feel about him not just as a performer but as a person.

re: Xanadu to Rollerskate Off Broadway on Oct 12th

When I heard this last night I was in total shock--immediately got on the phone with Wonder Robbie, who hadn't heard...then called and emailed about a million other people, when I SHOULD have been ordering onstage seats for the closing night. Now I'm outta luck.

"I thought Kyle replaced Curtis when he left to do Saved. I thought Kyle Dean was currently in Wicked?"

I haven't been back to Xanadu since July (new job cuts back on theatre trips) but according to ibdb Kyle started in Curtis' track on August 18.

Thanks. Regardless...I'm hoping to see Curtis in or at the final show.

re: Xanadu to Rollerskate Off Broadway on Oct 12th

I, too, hope that Curtis can do the last performance, although I'm not counting on it, what with his schedule, WSS and all that. But, if it HAS to close (grrrrr), I would like to think that something could be worked out so that Curtis could do it. No disrespect to others who've done the roles (and I've ssen most of them) who were just fine, but Curtis really OWNS that role and has always been a major factor in the joy of the Xanadu experience. If you're reading this, c'mon Joey (you know who I am), please, please, please do that performance!!!!!!

Such a sad, sad day. I saw the show three times from stage and once from the audience for Whoopi and was entertained to the point of tears every time.
