YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN Revisal

Show sucked the first time around. Why would they bother bringing this back? Are they trying to lose more money?

Geez! It clearly states this is for London in 2017. It says it at the start of the article.

Even OPs who provide links don't bother to read the articles they are linking?

Did you read the article? It said it might be coming to New York.

I like the show and I thought the smaller scaled down national tour was actually better than the overblown Broadway version. Bring back the old team and rethink it, smaller, spookier and funnier. It may not make money this time either but it'll be a better show. I like that they're going to try it in London first. Hopefully audiences there won't have a bias.

I really hope this was already in plans for months. Otherwise I'd really hate to think this might be a shameless attempt at capitalizing on Gene Wilder's death.

@JeffreyKarasarides - Thank you for linking that. That's a relief to know that this was already in the works before Wilder passed away. In any case, I liked what I heard of the cast recording, and while it sounds the show itself didn't do well, here's hoping they learned from what fell flat int he original production and have a nice comeback with the revival. Musicals that didn't do so well before deserve revivals even more than big hits I'd say - give them a second chance to do it again and do it better this time!

Thanks Jeffrey. I was about to post that link myself.

Everything isn't a conspiracy theory people.

Especially as we saw with The Color Purple how that show wasn't so well received the first time, but with the revival, it really made a difference.

I think YF was an underrated musical, just as The Producers was an overrated musical, but I doubt that it will come back to NYC. What would be the point? Top shows need buzz in order to recoup. I can't imagine this show would inspire a lot of buzz unless someone quite famous was in the lead.

Zachary Levi was supposed to do the original, but dropped out when Chuck got picked up. I wonder if they might try to get him again?

Does it seem strange to anyone else that they're doing an out of town in Newcastle? For a revisal?
