Is this tour worth seeing? I'm having trouble deciding if I should go.
The Young Frankenstein tour was such a joy in Cleveland. I saw it 3 times... that should tell you something. The cast is top notch too, in my opinion.

Yes, it does tell me something..... about your taste.
There's nothing wrong with liking big flashy shows with no substance. Most of us got into theatre because of them so they do have their place.
Saw it in Chicago the first night here. The cast was alright, that show just isn't very good.
I saw the OBC, too and I can tell you this: Roger Bart hates his life, to a fellow actor he is obviously very bored on that stage for most scenes...But somehow still pulls out a pretty good performance, and he made me laugh the most (but that could be because I find him hilarious, I have a bias). Whoever plays Inga did just as good as Sutton MINUS the vocals which were unimpressive (and p.s. I didn't think that highly of Sutton when I saw her, I thought she gave about 20% but even 20% from Sutton is pretty good). The woman playing Elizabeth (sorry Playbill isn't near) did her best to sound (speaking wise) exactly like Megan Mullay and once again didn't have the pipes to impress at all. But her acting was quite enjoyable. Shuler Hensley was great, but sadly isn't given that much to do. But Puttin' on the Ritz is by far the most entertaining part of the show. Igor also gave a very good, strong performance and made me laugh a few times.Frau Blucher (cue horses) was also well cast. The thing is none of these roles really have anything THAT spectacular to do. This is a show in my opinion for those audiences that have never heard of Sondheim and would pick going to the dentist over theatre most of the time.
p.s. During Ritz when the 4 leads start a simple time step, about half my audience (in CHICAGO no less, I thought we were smarter) tried to break into applause. for a SIMPLE TIME STEP.
JMO...that was longer than I intend it to be.

You are not even a fan of musical theatre. Maybe if you were, you´d be happy when anyone enjoys a musical show.
Anyways, this is a great musical to see with family and friends and not necessarily for musical-lovers only. Don´t miss it!

I went to see the show in Buenos Aires expecting not to enjoy it, and it was a big surprise!
BTW, the big star in the Buenos Aires version was the guy playing Dr Frankenstein. I wonder if Megan Mullally had the last bow on Broadway. Anyone could tell me how was the order?
She was second last. Bart had the final bow.
Do you think he would admit in a publication that he hated life? no....He seemed the same way in NYC when I saw him, and I think Sutton was bored too, hence the 20% of a performance I saw from her (and I've seen her before in something she obviously cared about-and knew she would get a Tony nom for).
I saw it when it first started previews in New York and I felt like Sutton did the best she could. She wasn't showcased all that much and it disappointed me. I am just happy I was able to see her perform on stage live. But I though Roger Bart was very very good on Broadway. The one who was disappointing was Megan Mullally, I found her Elizabeth speaking voice to be very old. I don't know something about her character voice rubbed me the wrong way. To be totally honest, I would've rather seen her Karen Walker voice used. Her singing was was very impressive and I thought she knocked all her numbers out of the park! I will be seeing the tour when it hits Detroit in February so I will post a review then!

The role of Inga could've been written better. Her next role Princess Fiona get her great reviews and another Tony nomination. Sutton also said she was proud to be part of "Shrek" since it was also nominated for the Tony for Best Musical. She felt that way about "Throughly Moden Millie" and "Drowsy Chaperone" also. She said that although "Young Franknestein" was good experience for her only a few actors got nominated for Tonys and she wasn't nominated nor was the show for Best Musical. She also said that although she was proud to be nominated for Jo in "Little Women" she was disappointed that there weren't any more nominations for that show either.

News Flash! HE'S LIEING!
What about the bows of Sutton Foster, Andrea Martin and Chris Fitzgerald?
"To be totally honest, I would've rather seen her Karen Walker voice used."
You know what's funny? I thought when I saw it that she was doing Karen for the role, and that annoyed me, I was like...you can do something else, ya know!
and the poorly written roles are the cause for the boredom. I know (I'm sure) that Roger Bart and Sutton Foster and every other bored actor loves what they do SO much and are grateful every night to be on those stages. It doesn't mean they like WHAT they are doing.
"During Ritz when the 4 leads start a simple time step, about half my audience (in CHICAGO no less, I thought we were smarter) tried to break into applause. for a SIMPLE TIME STEP."
Sometimes it is annoying when people clap in the middle of the show, but I don't think this YF audience is really stupid for clapping during the dance break in "Puttin' On the Ritz." I am not a dancer and know nothing about tap dancing. I don't even know what a "simple" time step is. So maybe the part of the audience who clapped didn't know either and felt the need to break out into applause to show they really enjoyed the dance break onstage.
Just because you are (I assume) a dancer and/or singer and find something to look really easy onstage doesn't mean the rest of the audience sees it that way. Not to mention, maybe the cast members can feed off the applause and give more energy in their performance, especially since you go on to say how the cast was just okay and looked bored.
Noo, I didn't state that clear enough. Puttin' On the Ritz is a fantastic number, and I'm by no means a dancer myself. But early on in the number before they do ANYTHING of difficult the four leads do a simple time step, like beginner basic tap time step and everyone tried to clap. The appropriate time would have been later when the entire cast was on stage selling it.
If you have seen any theatre you would know the difference between a "OH I need to applaud THAT" and what they do in that moment. Roger Bart and Corey English had done more difficult things while speaking lines than that. And the ladies had already done harder more impressive moves. But it was because it was tap in 4 person unison that they blew their load prematurely so to say
*edit and the only person I think that's bored in the tour production is Roger Bart...most of the others are newbies.
So, how was the order of the rest of the bows on Bway?
Is it true that Megan Mullally came out of some machine in the end to take a bow or something like that?

The order goes as follows:
Officer Kemp/Hermit
Igor
Frau Blucher *Neiiiigghhh*
The Monster
Inga
Elizabeth (Comes up through a trap)
Dr. Frankenstin
A little off-topic but are Bart and Foster still a couple?
Why don't you ask them? I'm sure they'd love to tell you their life stories!
