Posted: 5/17/10 at 8:41pmI know this show is dislike and a waist of time for some people but I would like to know any info about the tour as of now since there are clearly more cities... I just don't know which. I know its coming to certain cities but the site doesn't say.

Posted: 5/17/10 at 11:01pmI don't know, but I saw it Saturday night in St. Louis and...it was a little slow, especially the first act. The girl playing Inga was terrible, and "Roll in ze Hay" was waaaaaaaaay under tempo. It was disappointing. But...."Deep Love" and the large tap number totally made up for it.

Posted: 8/4/10 at 9:47pmThe show is touring for another season. Many cities have the show as part of their 2010-2011 seasons. I am sure the site will update their tour schedule when all the cities are finalized.

The problem I think with this show is Roger Bart he does not
have the "star" presence and is really a second teer kind of broadway person. Talented but not worth 100.00 to see
I saw it on Broadway and was wondering how funny it would have been with a Mathew Broderick in it. RB was trying soooo hard and it was painful to watch at times. The rest of the cast was great. I also think that that role requires someone kind of goofy cute (gene wilder) and really likable. But since Desperate Housewives Roger creeps me out ...not to mention hostel when they cut his privates off...

Posted: 8/5/10 at 11:51amYes. That's exactly what the show's problem was. Roger Bart isn't a big enough celebrity. Of course.

it funny when someone states their own opinion on this site
someone has something sarcastic to say...This was my opinion
I didnt say "celebrity" I said it needed someone with some kind of star power/quality ..this does not mean celebrity ..
Betty Buckley is not a "star" Patti Lupone is not a "star' outside of Broadway but they have STAR power...obviously you dont process information well

Posted: 8/5/10 at 1:57pmI saw the touring production back in June and actually liked it more than I thought I would. After reading comments here and talking to friends I thought I was going to be in for a horrendous evening at the theater. It isn't the best show but it's not that bad. Just my opinion.

You didn't mean "tier" by any chance, did you? That really brought a tear to my eye.

Posted: 8/5/10 at 6:50pmThe show is taking a break after the Los Angeles run. It will resume September 12. Does this mean that it is going non-equity and will have a new cast?

Posted: 8/5/10 at 7:27pmThey really need to pinch this one off and let it drop into the bowl.

After reading all the reviews on here, I saw it in Boston expecting to hate it, but as is often the case when you go in with extremely low expectations...
No actually, it was completely awful. I didn't laugh once, Roger Bart was phoning it in, the sets (except for the admittedly cool lab) looked like they were made with popsicle sticks and fingerpaint, and no one (except the man playing Igor) could sing. (We had the Inga understudy, so I can't speak for the main girl). Overall a dreadful experience. Not even a so-bad-its-entertaining. The only redeeming thing is that the tickets were free because the show sold so poorly in Boston that my school gave them away to students.

Posted: 8/5/10 at 7:43pmAlso, @beautywickedlover, the show was supposed to run longer in LA, but they pinched off either one or two weeks because NO ONE bought tickets. So that's why the break is there. I think the cast is being retained, and I don't think it's going non-eq

Posted: 8/5/10 at 8:36pmIt's playing at the DuPont theatre down in Delaware next year. Almost everything that plays there is Non-Eq, they get the absolutely worst shows several years into their runs, so I'm inclined to think it's going Non-Eq.

Well, here are some actual facts as best I understand them:
The production did shorten its run in LA, and is taking a hiatus of six weeks in order to re-tool, so that the number of trucks necessary to move the show from city to city will be significantly reduced, thus lowering costs. The show will reopen in Costa Mesa on Sept. 6, and continue as planned with the same cast. So, no, the show is not going non-AEA. From the reopening on, the plan is continue for 32 weeks.
Interestingly, the production has generally received very favorable reviews. Some have not been good, but most have been good to excellent. As examples, here are two, the first from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the second, the most recent review from the LA Times:

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/culturemonster/2010/07/theater-review-young-frankenstein-at-the-pantages.html
In spite of pretty decent reviews in most venues (including some down and out raves), ticket sales have not been booming. I have friends who saw it in Chicago, DC and Houston and all found it thouroughly entertaining, but it's certainly not for everyone.

Not in a screen name, but thanks for the suggestion.
Did you not see the humor, as it allowed me to use "tier" and "tear"?
