So lets here it from you folks. Id like to know how the music is? Are there some catchy songs, along with some powerful serious tunes?
kev
does anyone know their rush policy?
Can't wait. I am flying in to see it on the 16th of Nov. Doing a pre party that cast members may attend!

rush policy is the usual with most shows....day of $25 per ticket/2 per person. $25 seats for every show, for the balcony, are sold in advance (not rush)

I will be attending the second preview tomorrow night, thanks to some help from TDF. First row of rear mezz. I will post my thoughts Thursday morning after my second cup of cofeee.
Damn this Broadway habit makes getting up for work the next day a real challenge.
I'm seeing PIAZZA again tonight, or I would be there tonight! Hopefully tomorrow - I can't wait to see this.
I'm seeing it in two weeks. This is probably the show that I'm most looking forward to. Can't wait!

Let's here it! Is there anywhere online to see the set design? It looked awesome, but I want to see more.
maybe the show is still not over..lol
just got home... the show ran a little over 2 and a half hours... altogether, the show was GREAT. things of course need to be tightened up and stuff... but the show was absolutely fabulous and with some better advertising, it should have a good run on the great white way... LaChanze will definitely be nominated if not win best leading actress tony award this year... she was incredible.
I was also there tonight. Great, great show with one of the msot beautiful finales I've seen. The cast especially is what helps make it so great, and many of them are making their Broadway debuts. I hardly even go to the stage door, but I had to after this show to tell the actors how much their showed touched me. It was really a religious experience.
And if we wanna talk Tonys, I could definately see it getting nominations for Musical, Book, Score, Orchestrations, Direction, Choreography, Sets, Costumes, Lights, Actress (LaChanze), Featured Actress (Felicia Fields as Sofia), Featured Actress (Elisaveth Withers-Mendes as Shug Avery) and Featured Actor (Kingsley Leggs as Mister).
I was at the first preview. What an amazing show! Standing ovations from everyone. With a month to go before opening night, this show will only get better...much better.
The cast, many of whom are making their Broadway debut, is first-rate. LaChanze is marvelous. She gives a Tony-winning performance a la Heather in Aida. Seems like many in the audience were familiar with the movie and the lines. But unlike the film, the stage show has more funnier dialogue. Felicia Fields as Sofia stole the show. The actors playing Shug, Mister, and Harpo are worthy of Tony nods as well.
My one complaint: I kept waiting for that big 11 o'clock number but didn't get it...unless it was the finale. It was almost 11 when the show ended.

Now I am really excited! 2 weeks from today, I see it! Thanks for the reviews! One of the things I am most interested about is the music. This is Brenda Russels first Broadway score (If I am not mistaken) and I grew up listening to a lot of her music. I really hope she scores a Tony! I love her style.
i am very excited for Friday!
...so is it more religious (protestant) ...then mystical as the movie was?
yea i love the entire score to this show, absolutely beautiful
