Although, I would enjoy a recording of Alli Mauzey singing 'Screw Loose'.

From the clips this looks like one of the best shows this year. Much more pressed with it than In the Heights, Xanadu which I thought sounded mediocre and Passing Strange.

I talked to John Waters. he said the show is closing and they won't be making a CD, Bryan.

Saw the show last night. Review to come soon.
At the merch stands, they had a little card mentioning that the CRY-BABY OBCR would be recorded and "coming soon". By all accounts, there are DEFINITE plans to record the show.

There probably will be a cast recording, and it will probably get the same treatment "The Wedding Singer" cast recording got. IE: The energetic ensemble will dance their pants off at the Tonys, the box office will recieve a slight boost, but not near enough to make it a hit, and as a means of further marketing, there will be a special preview download on iTunes before the actual release of the recording, which most people will call a "guilty pleasure" CD.

Just a prediction.

A card at the merchandise stand saying that a recording is coming soon doesn't seem to mean much. If it did, we would have recordings of Lestat and Frankenstein on our shelves. This show got terrible reviews, and it is doing mediocre business. If it actually wins the Tony then maybe there is a chance that a recording will see the light of day, and I hope it does, but the future seems bleak.

I have a feeling that since it got a Best Musical nomination, the producers will do everything they can to get a recording made...
