I think Idina should bow last. Nothing against Kristin or her part size (I adore her and from the CD, how she plays the part), but the show's title is "Wicked". It's about the "Wicked" Witch of the West and I think it's her story. But I haven't seen the show so maybe I could be a bit off. But, would you have Cinderella and teh Prince take the same exact bow in "Cinderella"?
Off the subject, but i'm currently playing the prince in R&H's Cinderella :)....okay, back to Wicked
I did real well making that smile face

I beg to differ on the idea that Wicked, the show, is completely Elphaba's story. While I have heard that the book focuses more upon Elphaba, I think that the show tends to emphasize that Glinda, though given the label of "Glinda, the Good," might be just as "wicked" as the Ozians claim Elphaba to be. In fact, I'd venture to say that at times, Glinda is far more wicked. This applies to Morrible and the Wizard as well. It's all about the perception, and occasional ambiguity, of good and evil.

so now that idnia has the tony for leading actress does she bow by herself or does she still bow with kristin??? thanks :)
they still bow together. the only time anyone bowed "last" was when Eden played Elphaba for the first time. K and Eden came out, bowed together and then CHeno (the egotistical bitch that some of you love so much) backed up and let Eden take the final bow.
Well when I was in high school,( Back when the earth was still cooling and dirt was in Beta test) I had a great history teacher. She said at one time "History is told from two points of view. The winners and the losers. The truth is really somewhere in the middle"
The wizard sings ..."it's all in which lable is able to persist".
So I see the show as a telling the show from another point of view.
As far as who gets the last bow, I think Idina should have one last bow after one together. Especially now she has the Tony for the show.

Sorry for the rambling no coffee yet!
yeah I see your point. The way they do it is nice though, the come down together, then, the bow together, Kristin bows, Idina bows then the hug. It's very nicely done.
I'm so tired of the "star" factor in Wicked. My first time seeing Wicked will be June 27th with Eden and Laura Bell and I'm glad. I'll be able to focus more on the piece of work.
Wait now i'm confused who's point of veiw? I think that glinda is telling a diffirent story then what we see on stage since she says that they are "aquintances" (i think i spelled it right)so she might be changing it (i have no clue)
**minor spoiler**
she at first says they were "aquaintences" (I don't know how to spell it either ) because Elphaba tells her to not clear her name or anything- It was just dieing (sp?) wish. If Glinda said they were friends then she would have had to explain everything thus clear he name which happened anyways.

I think that the story is Glinda'sremembrance of what happened. It's a flashback. Glinda is not telling the story to the peoploe of Oz, but rather recalling the events that led up to where the show begins. I felt that the music and the way Elphaba entered was supposed to evoke a feeling of a memory.
yes, the whole show is a memory. That's why the first and last scenes are the same...it's almost like the timeline is a loop.
The whole story could not have been a complete flashback through Glinda's POV. Besides there being too many scenes with Elphie w/o Glinda (Because I haven't memorized scenes, song exapmles include The Wizard and I, Not that Girl, Wonderful, No Good Deed etc.) Glinda also never finds out what happpens to Fiyero nor does she know the truth of Elphie's final fate.
I think it just adds to what Glinda knows making the show complete because it's def. a flashback
Glinda knew all that because she is a WITCH! An dirty, evil, pink witch.

I'm going off topic here, but I have tickets for the show on July 13. Is there any reason to expect anyone but Kristin and Idina performing?
Thanks! :)
That's right! How would Glinda know that Elphie lived if it were from her POV? The whole show now doesn't make sense. It's confusing.
But, it's possible she knew because she was a witch (as Matt_G pointed out), and she could have seen what happened.

Because all of the info is filled in within the book...i think alot of people forget that it *is* based on a book which is almost uniquely following the story of Elphaba. Even if the play is a flashback of Glinda's which it almost definatly is. The book, where the story came from, is not.

Okay. I don't think I expressed myself well. I do not think the entire show is from Glinda's point of view at all. I think that at the beginning it starts out in Glinda's head. Elphaba's first entrance is her appearing in Glinda's head. Then the story just becomes a story, what happened. It runs up to the point where the show began.

I just think the beginning and the end are from Glinda's point of view..when they go back in time, its from both point of views..because it would be impossible for Glinda to know everything about what happened to Elphaba..I think its more of Elphaba's show..its the Untold Story of the Wicked Witch..If there was no Elphaba, there would be no show..
but i do have to say, i like how the bows are taken at the end..i like how they bow together and then hug..but i sort of thing they should each get their own bow..because it goes by so quick..i was talking to my friend and we almost missed their bows..

Actually, there really is no way to tell whose part is bigger. I saw the show just two weeks ago, and I could have sworn that their parts were the same "size".
Speaking of Kristin's size, my lord, Bernadette88, your Kirstin icon made me "thank you for the mammaries"! I knew Cheno had ample lung capacity, but really.
(I did get quite nervous in the front row when I saw the show and Kristin lies upside down on the bed during Popular. Ironically, the one technical misshap the show hasn't had yet is a wardrobe malfunction.)
I don't know if you guys saw my post, or you aren't sure of what en media res is...but basically it means the show starts near the end, goes back to the beginning and finally comes all the way back to the end to finish the show. It doesn't necessarily mean the story is being told from either point of view. The narration is clearly omniscient, considering Glinda and Elphaba have their own soliloquies, no matter how brief.
And it's interesting how Glinda, at the end, is holding the book as she steps sadly into her bubble, but when she appears in Oz to address the citizens (at the beginning, which would in effect be the end, as Elphie has just left - did that make any sense?) she's holding her wand and wearing a happy smile. She seems to hide her feelings well.
