First, breathe. Second, no need for all the "?????" "!!" - one will suffice. Lastly, search. Have a good night.
Here actually using correct spelling and grammar is appreciated.Just saying

Why do people with nothing better to do bother trolling around here?
I don't think it's trolling..just not using the search function. Nooo, I've become a search function pusher.
Anyways, yes, Haylie is Amber. Until October I think. Stunt casting is always so much fun.

I just found out that Haylie Duff is playing Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray! I was so upset when I heard that, it was worse than when I found out that Joey Fatone was playing Mark in RENT! Haylie Duff can't act for her life, she only got the role because of Hilary Duff. What were the casting directors smoking?
Whatever the producers were smoking, worked, the show got more promotion with Duff, than it has had in a while. Probably the show is selling a lot better, that's just my prediction. As much as we want to think that the average theatre-goer thinks like the average BWW user, it's wrong. People actually want to see celebrities on Broadway. I have no interest in seeing Hairspray, but Haylie got MTV to cover her Broadway debut. That is huge promotion. And that guy playing Link is HOT!
What's wrong with her? She's a talented actress and can certainly sing just fine. Is this all hooked into the "she's popular, and I'm 'kewl', ergo I must hate her" thing that seems to happen around the mid-teens?

What is wrong is that it seems that not many people agree with you. Some posters who have seen her peform the role say that she isn't very good in it.
I don't want to see her do it because I don't feel she deserved the role. She, to me, is just the older, less talented, less pretty version of her sister. People only know who she is because her sister made a name for herself. (And don't even start with the Napoleon Dynamite stuff. She had like 2 lines in that movie and still nobody knew her name after it came out.)
Stunt casting is kind of unfortunate, as it takes a role away from a performer who might be much better. However, I see why it can sometimes be necessary. It just seems a little early to start with Hairspray.
Well she has a better voice than Hilary (anybody does) so that less talented thing doesn't work.

She was in Napoleon Dynamite? Seriously. I saw that film and had no idea she was in it.
She was summer, the popular girl.

She has a 20 minute role in Hairspray. It's not like she's playing Tracy, Edna, or Motormouth. Get over it.

And Gosh, Joey Fatone was in Rent--what?---3 years ago? Didn't seem to hurt it much. Kids today are so volatile.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing her.
While I think it doesn't seem like the best casting, it sure makes for an interesting show. The reason that stunt casting is popular is because it brings people in to see shows so that they can see celebrities they know in a situation that they aren't known for being in (acting/singing on stage) and seeing how they can hold up. Atleast, it's that way for me. Give her a week or two--she'll probably get better. If she doesn't, she's not in the show forever.

Parks, for someone with no stage experience, she's pretty good.

Huh? You haven't obviously seen her perform the role. Her singing is atrocious...she can't hit half her notes. Her dancing, if you can call it that, is worse. She barely moves when she dances, and that's only when she's in sync with the ensemble, most of the time she turns the wrong way or is completely lost. I'm not entirely sure why they would cast her, usually stunt casting would be to cast someone people have heard of. But she is just plain awful, even for someone with no theatre background.
Whenever Movie or TV actors do stage, that's when you really know if they are talented or not.
Why hasn't Hairspray pushed Darlene Love a bit more? She's been there over a year, and been incredible, yet nothing. She's a true talent, and a bigger "star" than Haylie Duff, yet I've seen no special promotion for her. She deliver the goods, when apparently, Duff does not.

I've wondered that as well. She's barely noticed at the stage door. Maybe she's been out of the public eye too long for anyone to notice. They barely pushed Diana Degarmo (despite my never having heard of her, is more known than Haylie Duff).

-me-
It was almost a 100% and sales went up 90,646 on a week when most shows'grosses went down.

ARE YOU SERIOUS??? This is just a side note, as I don't care to comment on the Hairspray matter. But, for the record, not only is she a WAY more talented singer than Hilary (who, if you have ever seen live, gives one of the worst performances ever), but she is also much prettier. Hilary looks like a rodent mouse creature.
I have to agree with that. She is better than Hilary.
Well, none is better than anyone, they are both different, how would you like if someone compared you to your sister and said "She, to me, is just the older, less talented, less pretty version of her sister." ???
