Posted: 3/16/15 at 7:02pmI've only seen two shows using TodayTix so far: On the Town (through the lottery) and A Delicate Balance. I've had two wonderful experiences, though, so I definitely plan on using them again!

On the Town (2)
Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
Les Mis
Wicked
Cabaret
I have tickets to see Wicked again this Thursday using todaytix, since the first time I went Kara Lindsay was sick! I have had excellent experiences with them, having easy pickups and getting great seats every show!

Posted: 3/16/15 at 8:11pmI used TodayTix a lot last season to try and see a bunch of shows before the Tony's. I remember using it for If/Then, Mothers & Sons, and Casa Valentina. Had great seats at all 3, even buying the cheapest ticket.

Posted: 3/17/15 at 12:02amKara isn't out, it's Caroline Bowman, who was injured, so I'm not sure what is happening there. I've heard nothing but fantastic things about Kara from friends who have seen her, and I loved her in Newsies, so I'm very excited to see her in this.

"I've only seen two shows using TodayTix so far: On the Town (through the lottery) and A Delicate Balance."
Wow, that's EXACTLY the same for me! Just On the Town lotto and a Delicate Balance. I had built up enough credit that I only payed $5 for A Delicate Balance, which didn't have a rush. Great experience. So far I haven't bought many tickets through them just because it's usually more cost-effective for me to rush, but I understand that not everyone has the time to rush.

I've used the service two or three times.
But I'm curious why you'd care about how tix were secured. Doesn't change the show at all.
Shall we do a full price listing? Or a Broadway box lusting? Just silly.

That's a coincidence! I agree, TodayTix is a good substitute for me when a show doesn't offer Rush, or when there aren't very inexpensive tickets available through promotions. It's a great app, though, and it looks like a lot of people on here are taking advantage of the discounts!

So far, I've only used it for the On The Town lottery. I was fortunate to win and the process was a very easy and well run one. They seem like nice and helpful people. Having said that, when I first became aware of it, I though they might get discounts that in some cases were different than or ideally better than what you can get with a code from BroadwayBox or Playbill.com. That doesn't seem to be the case as for most shows, it appears their prices are exactly the same as you can get with the aforementioned codes and unlike using those codes, you can't avoid a service charge by going to the box office and don't know exactly what seats you will get (although most seem to be happy with their seats through TodayTix).
The real benefit obviously is accruing credits by other people using your personal TodayTix discount code. However, if you're someone who really doesn't want to be pestering your friends and family to signup and use your code so you can get $20 credits or isn't interested in coming on here every week and asking/begging people to use your code, then the benefits of TodayTix seem to be limited. At some point, a person will run out of people to ask who haven't already used theirs or someone else's code to accrue credits and then TodayTix prices will have to stand on their own. It will be interesting to see the sustainability of the model once that happens.

I feel the same as you, FishermanBob. If TT can get rates comparable to rush tickets, even just for the less popular shows, it'd be of more use to me. When their discounts are comparable to readily-available discount codes, you're solely paying for convenience. That said, they run a very convenient product that I'm sure is very useful for tourists and bridge & tunnelers.
Considering the timing of TT is more comparable to rush than regular discount code purchases, I was hoping it could compete with rush, but aside from virtual lotteries, it usually doesn't.

Posted: 3/17/15 at 2:58pmQuestion about the lotteries (which I only learned of now through this thread): Is there a general time of day when win/loss email notifications are made?
#14how many TODAY TIX shows have you seen?
Posted: 3/17/15 at 3:03pmAs I recall, e-mails are sent out between 3-4 hours before the curtain time and you have 1 hour from that time if you've won to accept and purchase the ticket or you lose it. My experience was it was closer to 4 hours so for a 2 p.m. matinee as an example, you are notified right around or a little after 10 a.m.

Thanks very much, FishermanBob! I've had this app for a while now, but wasn't aware they did lotteries. I'll give it a go!
EDIT: Indeed, I got a notification (didn't win) at exactly 4:00 pm for an 8:00 pm show. Cheers!

Posted: 3/17/15 at 4:31pmI keep trying to win the Hamilton lottery. No luck there. I'm happy to hear that people have had good experiences with them. I'll definitely use them in the future.

#19how many TODAY TIX shows have you seen?
Posted: 3/20/15 at 9:13amI have not won the Hamilton lotto, but I know thousands of people are entering everyday, so my chances are incredibly slim. I bought a side orchestra ticket for Wicked and it was row F, and completely unobstructed! Totally worth it, especially since I got to see Jenns first show back!
