"aren't easy notes to hit in suddenly seymour" ???? Are you kidding me?! There is a reason why jr high and high schools do Little Shop- vocally, it is not a challenge.. Idena can sing circles around Kerry. I thought Kerry sounded dreadful in Little Shop.

Idina Menzel is a goddess of music. I have not talked to one person who hates her performances. Over the past years, she has shown the beauty of her vocal range in such excellent parts. Kerri Butler, who I also adore but def. not as much, keeps on playing the classic "Penny Pingleton" roles. I want to see her as something else that doesnt call for a high pitched squeky voice. Her voice is def. off the wall, but I know some people who think she forces it too much. I dont agree at all with that, but I chose Idina over Kerry. But as we all know, both ladies are very different. I think they should switch parts for a night. That would be hilarious. Idina as Audrey and Kerry as Elphaba.

Well, you people started this so I don't want to hear it BUT...Kerry is not the be all end all of singing...I don't think I've ever heard her do "Kerry Butler's voice". If this character voice *is* her voice than she is an okay singer, range or not. Idina, at the least, has a very specific vocal style that like it or not, is her own. they have nothing to do with one another as far as similarities go. So, in short, who cares? broadwaylilhead i can tell you for a fact my high school did little shop 2 years ago and the lead could not hit some of the notes so they lowered it... My friend's high school is doing it this year and she said that their lead couldn't hit some of the same notes either.

i think kerry butler could play elphaba. we know she can belt those notes. i noticed too that it does seem effortless when she belts that high.

I see her as Glinda she was Belle in Beauty and the Beast and she was great in that show.
She could do it. She could play both roles.
Kristin is incredible in the role but in the future I can see

I'm sorry but I dont see Kerry under the green make up singing songs like I'm Not that Girl. And its just the same for Idina. She would be wierd in those Penny Pingleton roles. Its not her. But I def. think Idina proves herself in Wicked. Before she mostly just played the slutty supporting roles- now shes breaking free and playing a lead!!
