re: oh my (RENT in London)

Does anyone else think that the clothes they're wearing look too expensive to be warn by poor NYC starving artist bohemians?

re: oh my (RENT in London)

i don't think this phot-shoot was supposed to reflect costume designs nor the characters necessarily...just the actors having fun and trying to sell the show.

re: oh my (RENT in London)

this looks like an ad for Project Runway... They could be pretty and all but, if this "new" production is as bad as the last time it was in London, good luck to them.

re: oh my (RENT in London)

I am really looking forward to this. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued by this new "direction." My fingers are crossed that they don't f*ck it up.

re: oh my (RENT in London)

I'm interested in seeing this production, even though I obviously won't. The group shots on the right made me think of the song "Step Up" though - I'm not sure why.

ETA - does anyone know when this new production is supposed to be set? As in the time period? If it's supposed to be in the present, won't that really change the entire setup of the show? I guess these questions can't be answered yet until more information is released, but I'm still curious.

re: oh my (RENT in London)

It was just a rumor about Idina, after she left London's 'Wicked', that she was going to do a "revamped Rent" in London, waaaaay before this production was officially announced. Then, when this production WAS officially announced without a Maureen, well, things got fueled and obviously we were gonna think that.

But you'd think there would have been SOMETHING about it SOMEWHERE...

If she IS Maureen - damn - those Brits sure can keep a secret better than any of us!

..That they can. Known fact. Love those Brits.

re: oh my (RENT in London)

I am interested in this i wish they would do a cast recording

re: oh my (RENT in London)

I'm interested as well. I would love to hear the new orchestrations. Or remixes. Or whatever they are. Making it a pop opera instead? Leave it to the Brits. If anything, I would think someone would want to rock it up, make it grungier and dirtier or something. Who knows what this will be though. I'm certainly curious.

re: oh my (RENT in London)

I agree with the need for a cast recording. I've had it up to HERE *raises hand to eye level!* with the American version of RENT...

I'm all for a revamping if it turns out to be for the better... and I do think its possible that it could be reworked into a new and, as I said, better piece of theatre!

HIS COLLAR IS POPPED!

Does anyone else find that slightly humorous?

...and by the looks of it the popped shirt in question is that of American Eagle. Very RENT of him. So Bohemian.

But he is pretty..

re: oh my (RENT in London)

I keep switching between wanting to find it awesome, and finding it legitimately kind of nauseating.

re: oh my (RENT in London)

Oli Rhoe is HOT! Maybe he can bring a whole other side (meaing the gay side) of Mark out... the hot gay nerd... SEXY!
And Luke Evans... HOT!
White Mimi? why not?
White Joanne? Why not?
Both of them are hot

Is it just me but the promo shots did just abit too much??

re: oh my (RENT in London)

Oli Thornton is hot hot hot! Okay not a geeky looking Mark but will do for me.

And yeah Luke Evans has got def sex appeal although I always felt he was a bit too chavy looking and these pics hype up that side to it!

As for multiculturalism...well casting works both ways I guess. London is a very diverse place but I guess following the sacred rules of casting was not of the directors mind.

Marketing needs to be bold. It needs to sell and preferably sell the show with sex appeal. If they play up the directors Kylie connections this could get a whole new trashy tabloid/magazine coverage for the show that most musicals dont get.

re: oh my (RENT in London)

lol to the popped collar. As I said, I want to know how they are going to make this work. Are they taking out the whole "freezing cold artists in the loft" premise, or the AIDS thing, or what?

re: oh my (RENT in London)

It is been set today so the references to HIV medications etc have been updated, its also pretty much still taking place in America but they are just not saying that as all the cast are talking in there native accents.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

re: oh my (RENT in London)

Idina didnt like London!
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'
