oh someone please shut this show down, it was so dull and boring - Amy, Rita, Kevin, and Felicia are the only good things about it, and they were severely under utilized.
Stephen Lynch is a rank amateur on stage and it shows.
Laura Benati is too old, cold, and lifeless for Julia.
if the whole show had been as clever as the last couple of scenes of Act 2 (rappin' granny and Vegas celebs) then maybe this show would have been better. but as it is now it is a pointless, aimless, unfocused adaptation of a movie that wasn't very good to begin with.
ugh!
i'd much rather see "Billy Madison: the Musical".

Back away from the Adam Sandler vehicles NOW...
or we'll end up with EIGHT CRAZY NIGHTS, live on stage.

Personally I think it's got a lot of bling.
And the teenage girls love it, so what the hell.
#6re: The Wedding Singer must go
Posted: 5/23/06 at 1:01pmI agree that it is an awful show, but Stephen Lynch and Amy Spanger are very very talented. It really should flop, but give it a few more months at least.

Posted: 5/23/06 at 1:02pmi don't have a show, im a theatre goer and i was REALLY pissed to be spending that kind of money for something so pathetically pedestrian and horribly average.

"It really should flop"
Ok, now why would you say that? (for ANY show??)
#9re: The Wedding Singer must go
Posted: 5/23/06 at 1:07pmbecause it is pathetically pedestrian and horribly average

Posted: 5/23/06 at 1:11pmI thought those last few scenes were actually the most obnoxious and ridiculous part of the show! I actually really enjoyed it (aside for Laura who was TOTALLY miscast) up until that point.

Oh, if we could only close all the shows that...who was it...broadwaybaby692 does not like! Then life would be a dream. For that one person.
Lord, can you please see your way to force a hundred or so people to lose their jobs and for investors to lose their money and bring down the economy of Broadway further? For you see, broadwaybaby692 did not like the show and therefore it does not deserve to run. If you could do this one thing, I know it would make so many people happy. Well, the ones it would hurt the least, anyway. Amen. And if you think about it, can I have a puppy? Amen again.
You pays your money, you takes your chances. Just because you buy a ticket does not guarantee the show will appeal to you. It might help to remember that in the future. That, and maybe do a little research before you buy a ticket. Nothing you said about the show hasn't been said before.

i do not think it should close right now. it should last at least another 3-4 months...probably a bit longer...until other new shows open in the fall. many people are being entertained by TWS eight times a week and there are no new musicals looking to snag a theater right now. better to have a show running than to keep a theater dark. TWS may do good business this summer...who knows! as much as I hate the show, there is no good reason for it to close any time soon.

Posted: 5/23/06 at 1:23pmI know myself and quite a few people who find Laura to be absolutely hilarious in the show. She plays the role cute as a button and makes me laugh so much. I don't really know what the hell you guys are seeing.

Well now that I know that you and a few people find her hilarious, I have changed my entire opinion of her.
I don't really know if it's Laura's fault that she comes across as so flat - I think it's mostly due to lack of chemistry between her and Lynch and here severely under-developed, underwritten role.

The Wedding Singer deserves to be around as long as folks fill the seats. I went, and I had no expectations whatsoever. My favorite shows have been Nicholas Nickleby, M Butterfly, Indiscretians and the ilk, but I still had a marvelous time. Although no child of the 1980's...I genuinely had a memorable time. Laura was completely comfortable in her role. Although she's no belter a la Peters or Buckley...she reminds me of a younger Lizzie Larson. I had no quibbles with this show...and in a year as lean as this one has been for the Great White Way...we should welcome its inclusion. I try to see nearly everything, and this year I have seen all the musicals. I wouldn't call The Wedding Singer best musical by any means...but it sure accomplishes its purpose. Entertainment for the masses.
Incidentally, even after reading how fois gras is 'cultivated', I still won't give it up....or veal! I eat vegetarian most of the time...and no one is going to tell me what my tastes should be....culinarily...or even on Broadway.

Posted: 5/23/06 at 2:03pmI never told you what your culinary "tastes" should be. The word "taste" implies that it is unique to one person, so how could one person possibly tell another person what their "taste" is? I was merely showing people how inhumane it is. If you can still eat it, then shame on you. Ignorance is bliss.

sorry i have an opinion, but i do - and this opinion actually has a basis since i've seen the show.
i was glad to put all my thoughts on the survey they gave out at the beginning of the show.
i guess i was just disappointed and was expecting something more than what i got.
obviously there are opinions that differ from mine, otherwise why would the house have been full?
but mine is mine and yours is yours.

I don't think anyone begrudges you the right to have an opinion.
They just find your demand that the show be "shut down" silly.
I don't think anyone would argue with your hatred of the show - every show has people that love it and people that hate it.
