The way this season is shaking out, pretty much the whole Best Actor category is locked.
I wouldn't expect to see Swenson nominated. That category is one of the few very strong ones (Sieber, Kudisch, Jbara, Bierko (CATEGORY PLACEMENT), Breaker, Tveit, Carpinello).

PiraguaGuy2, I don't think Daniel Breaker will be nominated.

I think someone was asking about how many people they let one the stage because at the park, only a certain number of people were allowed on the stage so as not to mess up the set.

DRunkie, I agree, but he's a contender. I would give Tveit the edge.

DO NOT READ, if youre going to see the show!
********SPOILER************
How did Act 1 ended on the theater? is it like at the park-where all the cast ran away b/c they heard a police siren (that looks like a police car was parked outside Delacorte)
how did it translate to the Hirschfield Theater?

Saycon Sengbloh would be a great Dione. I am coming this summer and this is on my list now. Think there will be a cast recording?

On the Hair site they have videos of the Sitsprobe (spelling?) and they have Sasha singing White Boys and she is phenomenal. I can't wait to see this, and I can't wait to meet the cast after at the stage door. They all seem EXTREMELY nice.

Was the poster the same picture with Allison Case raising her arms up? I love that picture.

They said there was no posters as of now. But I assume that will be on the picture. I too love that pictures.

I would love to see Will Swenson get a tony nomination because then that category will consist of the three knights from the Philharmonic's Camelot. Marc Kudisch, Christopher Sieber, and Will Swenson. I am so excited for this revival.

I enjoyed Sasha Allen in Camp and got to see her in "BARE". Would love to see her in this. Especially after watching that clip of her on the show's website.

Thanks so much for the review! I'm dying to come to NYC and see the show this summer, hopefully I can.
I'm really glad to hear all the great stuff about Gavin! I hope he gets nominated for a Tony, I just love him.

Um...doubtful.
They're all very good but just not really Tony nod-worthy.

BEST REVIVAL- HAIR
BEST NEW MUSICAL- BILLY ELLIOT (this is a no-brainer, any broadway -enthusiast can figure this out, by now!)
I agree with 'Hair' but I think we should wait and see '9 to 5' before we jump to Best New Musical.

I really thought WSS would win best revival. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm seeing it soon. I love HAIR and WSS...it's surprising me in a good way that people are saying HAIR will win the Tony.

RE: WSS versus Hair for Best Musical Revival. Interesting that the original production of WSS was beaten out by The Music Man and Hair was beaten out by 1776. The way things are looking right now, justice will be served for one of them, as I don't think Pal Joey or Guys and Dolls stand a fiddler's chance.

PAL JOEY and GUYS AND DOLLS will only be nominated because they have to be (four slots, four revivals). They have no chance at winning.
I liked WSS but there is no competition as to which is a better production between WSS and HAIR.

This cast sound absolutely great on the tracks on the website and so does the band. Could this be a definitive version of the score?

So, Hair may have its place in the Tony sun after all -- thank God.

It definitely deserves it. But whether or not the Tony committee will want to give Laurents some kind of recognition this year (I highly doubt he'll win Best Director, he has a better shot at Revival simply because of the slim pickin's) is up in the air. He directed such a brilliant production of GYPSY last year at age 90 and now has knocked out another production less than a year later....

SPOILER
Act 1 ends with I think is supposed to be a fire alarm, instead of the police siren. It's kinda an odd noise, although that might be so as people don't think it's a real fire alarm going off...

Those are actually only demos and not done by any of the leads, they were done by members of the tribe. They were done for demo purposes. The leads had not been totally hired. I was told the demo was done in in January at some point. The credits are as follows:
Aquarius: Patina Miller and The Tribe
Hair: Steel Burkhardt and Bryce Ryness and The Tribe
Good Morning Starshine: Megan Lawrence and The Tribe
Let the Sunshine In: Kacie Sheik, Patina Miller and The Tribe
As for it being "definitive"...since the show has never been the same twice...I doubt there could ever be a "definitive" version.

Saw Hair Sat. evening performance, March 7th.
Gavin Creel steals the show. Even bigger things ahead for this lad. Will Swenson started out strong, but he is all over the place literally and figuratively in his performance. And he undercuts his own line readings with reactions to the lines after he says them. Also agree that Caissie Levy was screechy and her big number seemed more like an American Idol moment. Less is more.
Great moments in the show, and let's hope the previews will tighten some of the performances.
And not crazy about having to watch the people sitting next to me jump on stage and dance at the end of the show.
