rOcKS on the 'A CATERED AFFAIR' OBC

Just got it today in the mail and it's absolutely fantastic! I really enjoyed the score when I saw the show live but I thought it was a bit forgettable but this OBC captures it gorgeously. There's a bit too much dialogue interspersed throughout but when the score soars, and it does often on this recording, it's absolutely gorgeous. I have no idea how CRY-BABY got score and Best Musical nominations over this little gem.

Wopat, Prince, Kritzer, and the entire cast sound beautiful...the music is so simple but incredibly lovely.

I hope AFFAIR still manages to do well financially...it's two million times better than CRY-BABY ever could be.

bucchino wrote a great deal of underscoring as the piece has a cinematic quality. It seems that they tried to include as much of it as possible. The music under the bridal scene is gorgeous, for example.

No surprise that I am very heart broken by today's nominations. I'd scream, "they got it all wrong!" from the rooftops, but I don't wish to take away any joy from those who did get the nominations.

I hope people discover this show from the obc and see what I consider to be an absolutely gorgeous piece of theatre.

I saw this show last week and am still waiting for my OBC to arrive from amazon (I pre-ordered something else and have to wait until that is released next week). I loved this show and I hope people can discover how great it is. Faith is truly a treat as Aggie and after one of her numbers the audience was so emotional they were speechless...not a single sound was uttered as every eye was trained on Faith.

I really want to get this album, it seems like something up my alley.
And not to be nit-picky, but you are missing an R in OBCR :-p

I bought it last week. I hope it arrives soon!

Still angry that it was snubbed at the Tonys...but we'll save that for another thread.

Hoping to get mine tomorrow. I live just outside of the city and it usually take PS Classics 2 days to get their albums to me and being that I ordered Saturday, I think tomorrow's the day. Hooray! :)

Going off of the Amazon site, it didn't think this was being released until later this month. Thanks for posting the review, otherwise me and my little credit card would have never found our way to the PS Classics site tonight! I am really looking forward to hearing all of it, as I have only heard clip. AND, I really hope it is still open in August when I plan to see it!

I know this is slightly off topic, but the OBC will be at Barnes & Noble (Lincoln Triangle)on May 29th....so I will be waiting till then so I can meet the cast and get a signed copy of this CD!

I'm in the middle of listening to it right now.

The fact that Cry-Baby got a Best Score nomination over this is absurd. And yes, I have heard the score to Cry-Baby.

I ordered this and Adding Machine last night....PS Classics said they shipped today! I hope they are here on Friday. I cannot wait. You guys are making me so excited for ACA!

Well the show looks GORGEOUS. I just wish they had a prettier ad campaign or logo.
