Actually, I hadn't heard the latter, at all. How is he different?
I don't know. I'd imagine they make him geeky in the beginning and then Elle sexes him up? It all goes along with the "people aren't what they seem from the outside so don't judge that" theme, somehow. lol. Have you heard So Much Better yet?

Yeah, I guess so. The idea of Emmett being nerdy makes me sad though.
I have. It's a cute song, but I think it kind of repeats itself a lot. And the way that they rhyme "Look at my name upon that list" with "Does someone know that I exist" makes me cringe a bit.
Lol why?! Do you have an aversion to perfect rhymes?
Would you rather Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics?
I think it gives Emmett more of an arc, but we'll all see how it plays out on stage soon. When do previews in San Fran start, anyone? I'm too lazy to look it up.

I have nothing against rhymes, but I hate it when you can tell they included a lyric just because it rhymed... Drives me nuts when people do that. It's like in Miss Saigon with "What's this I find? You have joined with the blind!"

Did you not get the memo about the classic spoof of Lassie and that the Luke Wilson character isn't the same as in the film?
Still doesn't change the fact that it's stupid (the dog bit I mean), and just because he's not the same doesn't mean he has to be a total caricature (based on the one song I heard). Again, I'm only basing it on the two songs I've listened to, and will give the show a chance once it opens in NYC.

If they're making Emmett nerdier, does that mean that they're getting rid of David?
B3TA, you seem to have some inside info which is fine, I'm not the shill police but please don't tell me you're implying that O'Keefe and Benjamin are better songwriters than Bernie Taupin. Lestat aside, they have a way to go before they should even be mentioned in the same sentence as Taupin. I am hoping the rest of the songs are better than what we've heard so far, I also detest that strange way the girls are all singing, like they're cartoon characters.
SporkGoddess - I first assumed (and hoped) it was David, not Emmett singing. Alas. I don't know
FosterChild- No I don't have any inside information. I think that Bernie's writing outside the Musical Theatre genre is more than passable, but I find him to be as weak in the genre as Benjamin and O'Keefe might be outside it, doing what Taupin does best. (Sorry, was I not supposed to name them in the same sentence?
)
Like someone said...when O'Keefe sang the song he sang it with a sort of farcical sarcasm that I think means the whole number and beginning is the same. Seeing the staging would probably make that a lot more clear, if we have the right grasp on the concept of the song. I in all honesty think it might be too much to start the show with, in that case. We'll all see in about a month when the first preview starts in San Fran...

I listened to Take It Like A Man last night. That was funny, in a not so good way.
"I love to see men change before my eyes."
"Don't watch me change."
Oh well.

jimnysf: Could not agree more.
Allentown2: Well, the "Subtext" part was kind of funny. But, yeah...

Guaranteed if this were composed by an African American, you would not be saying that ozone.
It's more than evident you're just a *tad* biased on this board.
Oh! BURN!
Just Kidding.
well how 'bland' can it be with Orfeh in it? she's got enough flavor for everyone, thankfully.

Is there any place that I can still listen to the full version of this song? The link is no longer working. I know about the clips of the show on Broadway.com but I was actually looking for this full version.
Thanks.
Edit: Found it. You can still hear it on the legally blonde myspace page.
