what shows out there did not get a cast cd made of it.
The two recent ones that I wish got a cd are THE APPLE TREE and THE THREEPENNY OPERA with Cyndi Lauper.
I really wished the revival of Ragtime was recorded. (But at least I have the OBC.)
But shows as of late, seem to all be getting a recording. (Except Soul Doctor -- but I may not have been paying attention if it was announced.)
Oh, and JAMES JOYCE'S THE DEAD
That was one of the most beautiful scores ever and it should have been recorded.
Two near misses from a few years ago: Lestat was recorded and never released. Lennon was either recorded or at least scheduled to record and then was pulled.
Unless I'm mistaken, the recent revival of On A Clear Day You Can See Forever didn't get a recording. I know the show was a flop and a critical failure as well, but this is surprising to me, given Harry Connick Jr.'s popularity outside of Broadway.

There are many London shows that have a cast recording, but when came to New York, none was made..........."Phantom Of The Opera," "Miss Saigon," "Sister Act," etc....
The recent Ragtime revival actually did receive a recording. Just a few songs, but it's something!
Would love to have had recordings of the original London and Broadway casts of CARRIE.

The Visit with Chita Rivera...alas not yet to Broadway but sorely a missed opportunity!
Do you want to narrow it down a bit? There are thousands of shows that don't have a recording?
Are you looking for a list of broadway shows without cast recordings?
Are you looking for good shows that you may have missed because they don't have a recording?

I wish there had been a recording of HAPPINESS There were some wonderful numbers like Step Up The Ladder and Not Right Now and the title number.
For those of you that don't know Bryan, his only connection with b'way and especially new works is strictly through cast recordings. He laments this frequently.

Many shows of the past with good scores did not get original cast recordings: Follow the Girls (and that had a long run), The Conquering Hero, Sophie, The Student Gyosy, Pousse-Café, Georgy....
And these scores were a lot better than those that are recorded -- and win Tony Awards! --- today.
Off Broadway- The revival/reimagining of Bare, what's going on with that? I vaguely remember it being announced and nothing since!
I really would like to hear "The Drunkard" cast recording by Barry Manilow.
Pousse Café had an album made. I have the CD which is long since out of print
Sophie had an album of about 12 or 13 songs from the score recorded by various artists. It is better than no recording. I put the LP on cassette and than burned it to a cd. You may be able to find Sophie on CD on Amazon but expect to pay a lot for it.
Ragtime revival had five songs recorded by Jay [it is still available on their website] it would have received a full recording if only it had longer run.

The 2012 Broadway revival of Jesus Christ Superstar never got a cast recording
I still would love a cast recording of CRY-BABY and Roundabout's THE APPLE TREE...
