"They have the public hanging by a thread."
Yes, quite literally, they do. But I wouldn't worry. We're going to have good news tonight. I can just feel it.

Posted: 11/25/07 at 7:36pmI'm sorry but was the testify thing towards me and what exactly does it mean? I apologize but I moved here from France and after four years, I'm still learning english!! (Don't worry, I'm not one of those snobby, stuck up french people who hate americans!)

Preaching as Testimony (testify)
Preaching is a witness intended to evoke other forms of witness. Preaching is the activity of the whole church and not of the preacher alone. What challenge does this present to the preacher? What grace does it offer? How is the testimony of a preacher distinct from the other 'testifiers'? How do preacher and people work together to practice testimony? How does the call and response pattern common in African American worship support the preacher in giving testimony? If this is not the pattern in your own community, by what other means do the people support the preacher in giving testimony?

I have no inside knowledge, but I'm hoping that five minutes after today's meeting started both sides realized that the major issues had already been settled and that there was no reason not to get back to work. Of course it would be difficult to justify the past week of missed shows, so it was agreed that no announcement would be made until tomorrow morning. Both sides would then be able to say that they had bargained like mad all night, squeezing each other for every concession possible.
These guys do specialize in theater after all.
Maybe both sides are hanging out in that conference room playing poker, watching "America's Next Top Model" and eating lots of take-out Chinese this very minute.

Um, ok. Well I'm still not sure exactly what that meant, but ok. I guess I'll testify then? Am I being rude or something? Or saying something I'm not supposed to? This is totally off topic, I apoliogize!!

Well, Broadway stagehands are currently on strike because they have been working without a contract for over 3 months, and they might resolve the issue tonight.
Hey, you asked what was going on...

I'm just guessing, but....
if there was some sort of an agreement reached tonight, you can bet they would want it to be done in time to make tonight's 11:00 news. That would mean their press conferences would have to be held before the 11:00 news.
