A CHORUS LINE is the worst by far....
Step away from XANADU....campy genius....so bad it's good. I Love Love Love it!
I agree that Gene Kelly is a legend, but he was either miscast or poorly directed or something. His performace was not good.
Baz Luhrmann really needs to do a remake of Xanadu. He could do justice to that film.

I hated the movie version of Hello, Dolly!
Barbra was waaaay too young and too self-conscious to play that role. And there were too many too long dance numbers for me.
I didn't like The Who's Tommy either. A bit weird.
I think The King And I is one of the best ones I've seen.
THE FANTASTICKS makes me sad because it was all filmed just the way it should have been and then once the editors got their hands on it songs were dropped scenes were butchered and they killed it... just killed it. I like the DVD because it has all the deleted scenes and songs that were removed, but I don't understand why, since they felt it was gonna flop anyway, it was never released in it's original completed state. It had the opportunity to be one of the best movie musicals and now it's one of the last on my list...
jim is not the sweetest kid. I have known him personally for over 10 years
He has an ego the size of texas. He used to be the size of texas himself until he graduated High School. We went to HS together.
Anika Noni Rose is in From Justin To Kelly. I personally, did not like the Fantasticks. Don't know why, it just nevered appealed to me. I have the DVD and I still don't think it brought justice to the show, it's not terrible but it really isnt good. I think Mame is pretty bad, not worst, but i think i would give it like one and a half stars out of four. Of course Man of La Mancha gets 0 or 1/2 out of 4.
Anybody remember Kenneth Branagh's "LOVE'S LABOR LOST"
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE for the sheer fact that it COULD have been great. I loved the idea of using a Shakespeare comedy as its plot(at least you know your story is going to be good). I loved that it was set in the 1920's(Suits, trech coats, hats, style and chivalry) and some of the casting was fantastic(Adrian Lester was the most talented person in the cast and Nathan Lane was was well cast but wasted).
Nothing worse than lost potential!!!!
After watching "HELLO DOLLY" for like the thousandth time....I don't see whats so bad about it.
I LOVE "THE WIZ" but I do think that the movie could have been better and I wish that they had kept it the way the play is. Today alot of high schools are using stuff from the movie when the play wasn't really like that.

It wouldn't matter if Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini were acting out a Shakespere play. They can't act. They're terrible. And I actually didn't realize that was Anika Noni Rose in it. I feel like maybe her Tony should be revoked for having been in that movie. Ok, ok - she can keep it, but we'll just pretend like it never happened.

In my mind HELLO, DOLLY is the worst movie ever made. I hate it so much that I've pretty well stopped seeing films because of it.
I didn't mind "Hello Dolly" so much - but I'd forgotten how much I hated "Mame" till I was reminded here. It was just awful!
"Hello, Dolly" is one of my favorite movies ever.

all time worst for me:
Camelot
I'm not the type to stop watching a film because I want to see the entire thing, but my God, it'll be hard to top those tedious three hours of my life.

Sometimes I make a list, but other times it really isn't necessary.
A Chorus Line
Ok, I think I need to defend Grease 2 a bit. In my opinion the songs in Grease 2 are catchier and sometimes wittier/funnier than in Grease and are better sung. (Stockard Channing CANNOT sing) Songs like Reproduction, Do It For Your Country, and Score Tonight are hilarious and I think capture better the horny teenager-ness of kids at that age. Plus the movie has miss Lorna Luft who I adore.
The worst movie musical HAS to be the original Annie. Annie can't sing. They took out the decent numbers and added stupid ones. Rooster and Lily are reduced to cameos and what the hell is with Punjab flyin around in a helicopter? I can imagine the boardroom meeting where the pitch was made
Producers: "what this musical needs is a flashy helicopter finale with a guy in a turban savin the kid from a huge steel girder! BOX OFFICE GOLD!

No one has said BRIGADOON.
I'm sorry, maybe it's just me, but this musical is awful! Or atleast the movie is....it's a stupid concept about annoying shallow characters with cheesy half-rate songs. It was just dumb! Even Gene Kelly could not make me like this film.

Rentaholic - obviously, to each their own. I'll say that, for me, Brigadoon is a beautifully wistful tale about the happiness that simplicity can bring, and how love is what matters the most in the end. And the music is sublimely romantic and melodic.

Ok...I change my vote. I watched a treasure of a bad movie-musical yesterday night...Cinderella with Ginger Rodgers. It is so painful I can't even explain...but everyone who hasn't seen it must go rent it today...it is that bad.

i'm sorry this is where I have to defend Stockard, no she's not Maria Callas or Olivia Newton-John but she has does have character when she's doing her songs. She can sing rings around Maureen Teefy, who murdered every song she sang in "Grease 2" including her duet "Let's Do It For Our Country" but then in hindsight those songs were cr@p to begin with.

Whether she can sing or not, there is no denying that Stockard's There Are Worse Things I Could Do is not the best there is.

..haha well...
The Wiz- was far form my favorite..
Grease 2 had nothing on teh original..sorry some things just arent meant to have a "2" made after them...
Xanadu- didnt get through it.. haha
From Justin To Kelly- thats hard to go by..i dunno it was a nice effort..but they really shouldve realized that just becuase American Idol was good for them..a movie musical is a TOTALLY different story....
