And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

I think it is a very creepy idea - it woulnd't be a music right?

When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing. - Moliere

I think it would be...

It's gonna get in the way of Wildhorn though - or will be funnier...

Yes, it's a musical. Mel Brooks has already written several songs, including Frau Blucher's big solo, "HE VAS MY BOYFRIEND!"

Quite frankly, I think Wildhorn gets in the way of Wildhorn.

Last I heard, Matthew Broderick is being tapped to play Young Frankenstein and Kristin Chenoweth to play the Madeline Kahn role.

I'm voting for Marc Kudisch as the Monster and Roger Bart as Igor. Oh! And maybe Sara Ramirez as Ulga, even though she's a brunette. Megan Hilty would also be a great Ulga.

I second Roger Bart as Igor.
This is my favorite Mel Brooks movie... don't know how well it'll fare as a musical, but I have faith. re: young frankenstein

You know, the first thought that popped into my head when I heard that The Producers was being made into a musical was, "Why not Young Frankenstein?"...and as soon as I heard last year that Mel had started working on it, I flipped out. I'm so excited, as it's my favorite of Mel's movies (the original Producers movie's up there, too)...and I think I'd DIE if Roger Bart plays Igor. He'd be absolutely PERFECT - and I'm not saying that just because he happens to be my favorite actor ^_^. Matthew and Kristen would be fabulous casting choices as well!

It's supposed to come out next year in the fall, I believe.

I am not to into Matthew as Frankenstein...

Maybe I am crazy, but he isn't that great. I mean, he played the role of Leo as he played his role in The Foreigner. His Enlgish accent was awful. But that's not important. He is funny though...I dunno, I think there could be some one better...

Hank Azaria would be a great Young Frankenstein.

Hank Azaria has said he does not consider himself a musical theatre actor and that he is there only for the funny voices. The reason I bring this up is because if this is anything like the producers (and I expect it to be much better) than the actor who plays Frankenstein needs to have musical theatre skills.

Norbert Leo Butz would be the ideal Doctor F.

Sherie Scott as Inga.

Greg Jbara as the monster.

Joanna Gleason as Frau Blucher?

This, of course, assuming the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels does not run.

Actually, Nancy Opel would be a great Frau Blucher.

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

Roger needs to be in YF! Even if he just stood on the side and stared into space for the duration of the show - I would still be happy. re: young frankenstein

Whoever fills the shoes of Gene FRIGGIN Wilder has the most difficult job in the world. And it sure as hell better not be Matthew Broderick. Wrong, wrong, wrong for Frankenstein, I don't care how much Mel loves him. Same goes for Nathan Lane. Ariadneeeeeee.... *shivers*

I second Norbert. He'd be good.
But, truly, Hank Azaria would be an inspired choice even though he'd never do it. Can you just imagine the wild takes he would bring out as Dr. Frankenstein?
"Give my creation...LIIIIIFE!!!!!!!" It would be perfection.

I think Martin Short would be a great Young Frankenstein. He's got a great voice, was better than Broderick as Leo (in my opinion, so lets not start that debate here), and is great with the over the top "It's...ALIVE" moments.
