'Swept Away’ to Close on Broadway December 15
 Dec 9 2024, 04:33:05 PM

I'm not very good at figuring out why some shows close early and others don't. I'm a 63 year woman who doesn't live in NYC but manages to take enough trips up there to see an awful lot of shows. This is what I DO know....

1. I love new theatre and love to support it. And I do like edgy, dark material and love to support that, too.

BUT

2. I have no earthly idea who the Avett Brothers are so it wasn't high on my list of things to see. I don&#3

TAMMY FAYE Reviews

I have been following the trajectory of this show since I heard about it on the West End up to reading the reviews today.  And as much as I adore Cerveris and Boyle, I knew I wouldn't be seeing it despite me usually seeing most of the shows on Broadway.  According to some people on the board, I shouldn't have an opinion on it if I haven't seen it, so I'll just keep it about me and not the specifics of the show, but it does perhaps explain the lukewarm reception

Tonight I saw the first preview of Shit. Meet. Fan.  If you can find a ticket, it's worth seeing. At MCC.

Add Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as Pozzo and Lucky, substitute a telephone booth for the tree and now we've got a show.

I saw the show tonight as well. Wasn't a fan. There's not much I can add here that hasn't already been said. But I swear to God, if I see one more Broadway show where a character does a vocal fry "Yaaaaaaaaaaaaas" to get a laugh I'm going to lose my ****.

Hello, old white lady of means here. (Well, I'm 61 but by the board's standards I guess I'm old.)  Don't live full time in the city, but have a place there for coming up every few weeks to see shows, so I know more about Broadway than your average ticket buyer.  I always pay full price because I can afford it and in a weird way I feel like that supports Broadway. I guess I'm a sucker.

Had tickets to both KPOP and Ain't No Mo for January. &nbs

"Denis O'Hare was No spring chicken when he played the role! Personally, Cerveris reads young to me."

If you mean the one at the Delacorte in 2012, he was 50.

Artistically, yes it’s ok to accept the separate skill sets. And maybe trying to force it will sometimes result in mediocre star performances. But I think the batting average is strong enough that the benefits outweigh the artistic "risks."

Based on the direction of the industry, I think it's import to keep investing in the cross-pollination of

For me I think I just accept they are different mediums/different jobs rather than suggesting only the good ones can make it to the stage."

Well, no. &n

She was the Baker's Wife in the Delacorte's "Into the Woods" back in 2012, I think.  I wasn't a fan, but there were lots of other problems with the production so who knows whether a different vehicle woul

Couldn't agree more. And I think the Broadway stage, more than any other medium, will quickly reveal any weakness in an actor's skill. Some will adjust and rise to the occa
