New Hadestown Casting Nov 11
2024, 12:23:38 PM
Caught this over the weekend and was shocked how much I loved this current cast. After seeing this twice with the OBC, I would dare to say I liked Lillias as much as De Shields and Jordan’s vocal performance was much MUCH stronger than Reeves, especially with all the falsetto head voice stuff. How has Jordan’s attendance record been? Dying to see this again with him. This show is hitting harder than ever, especially after the election.

SMASH On Broadway reveals casting Oct 23
2024, 12:04:14 PM
Why the producers think this has equal to or more brand recognition than SLIH is a mystery to me. SLIH was a financial flop and this, without any star power in the cast, is going to do what at the box office with its limited built in audience??

This is a performance not to be missed. It is playing till December 14. I would suggest rushing on a weekday as you'll likely have a better shot at getting a ticket, as they only have about 18-day seats per day. When I got there, there were only two people in front of me, and that was about 90 m

Last minute trip to London! Any show recs would be greatly appreciated. I tend to like smaller more intimate shows, dramas, darker stuff, or exceptional musicals like “The Band’s Visit.” What are the hot shows rn?

SUNSET BLVD to transfer to Broadway Sep 8

Hello, for those that have seen this in London, would you sit row B orchestra or row C front mezzanine. I know this show doesn’t have much set but I’m wondering if it is better to sit further back to get the full effects of the lighting/video? Thoughts?

If you are a in the US military, a police officer, a firefighter or a nurse, I cannot urge you enough to take advantage of PAC’s “Respondertix” by calling 212-266-3000. Tickets with fees are $39 and you can choose where you want your seats to be, regardless of price point. Get them before they are gone!

Probably in major cities, but this won't get any play in middle America I'm sure."

'CATS: The Jellicle Ball' at PAC reviews Jun 15

I went to a mini-ball in HK on Sunday night in partnership with CATS: The Jellicle Ball. The show sponsored some of the categories and a few of the cast members were there and competing. They were handing out fans that everyone got that said “PURRR! Jellicle Cats Come Out Tonight” and I think this was an ingenious outreach into the younger ballroom community. For sure they are exploring all avenues to increase interest in this show and I admire their creativity in doing so.&n

Titanic at City Center Jun 11

This is a must see! Titanic’s ravishing epic score has never sounded better. Thunderous response from the audience! The whole damn cast from top to bottom is completely stacked. Honestly not a weak link in the company and I lived for Milligan playing Alice Beane, a role Victoria Clark originated. I had also forgotten how funny parts of the book are. I would die to get a recording of this, maybe with a broadway transfer?? Shout out to Chuck Cooper, Alex Joseph Grayson, Ramin Karimloo, Jo

Dylan Smith4 said: "I saw the show this past weekend, and can I say that this was probably the greatest original piece of theatre I have seen in recent years!”
Except it’s not an original story as numerous critics and posters here have noted this is based on Fleetwood Mac recording Rumors. Also, it would be wild if this beat Days of Wine and Roses for best score IMO.

Play Esq. said: "While ^ is true, I found Diana, Holly, and Reg to be quite likable.”
For me there was no resolution with Diana’s character arc. The only time she got up the nerve to stand up to Peter was in the last act when she was coked up which made me like her a little less.

This show has too much hype around it rn. Went this afternoon expecting an 11/10 experience but got a super long play that was just good with some *wonderful* musical moments. By far the best parts of this show revolve around the music. But for me there were absolutely no stakes to the plot and many of these characters were so one dimensional. I think this would have been much more powerful if this was edited down. I will undoubtedly look forward to album release tho!! Also Sarah Pid

KIMBERLY AKIMBO to close in April Jan 6

Tickets are not yet available for the final performance. Do we think the house will be reserved for friends/family of the show and any remaining tickets will be released to the public closer to closing? I was at the very first preview at The Atlantic and must have this full circle moment with the closing of this brilliant piece.

Is the migrant crisis affecting broadway? Aug 31
2023, 01:11:23 PM
The headline of this thread is unfortunate. I have been living in NYC for 20 years and have been an avid Broadway goer for even longer. Post-Covid NYC with its marked increases in crime/homelessness/the mental health crisis coupled with the droves of migrants around The Row have definitely created a very “lively” and different land scape around the area.
As someone who lives in Brooklyn, my theater going habits have completely changed Post-Covid. I am much le
