The movie!! The Streep VS Hawn energy was iconic — Simard and Hilty could absolutely never!! Also, where was the glow-up / transformation with Hilty?? I could never get past this part to suspend disbelief. She started and ended the show the same damn way.

I’ve been curious about how the fog / haze / mist / smoke effects are created during Nicole’s performances of “With One Look” and “As If We Never Said Goodbye.” Is it just a mix of lighting and fans? It’s honestly one of my favorite moments of the show—it perfectly captures that moody, atmospheric vibe and pairs so beautifully with her haunting vocals.

Correct — it’s a completely different type of show, and Dead Outlaw isn’t written in the same way to evoke that same deep, “lump in your throat” emotional response that The Band’s Visit did. It’s interesting you brought up pacing, though, because one of the more common criticisms of The Band’s Visit at the time was that people found it too slow and quiet.
