“As for Director, people seem to be so focused on the Jamie Lloyd of it all, but for some reason the population on this board doesn't seem to understand that Sunset has been a very divisive production. Maybe Happy Ending has been much more universally beloved in the community. Could Jamie Lloyd win? Sure. But I fully expect Arden to walk away with it at this point."
THIS! I’m surprised how many people here are assuming Lloyd is the frontrunner/winner

FLOYD COLLINS Reviews May 25

I thought Zak was pretty remarkable. That voice is just like butter and as he was nearing the end of his journey, it really looked like he was on his last leg.
Also, truly so impressed by Taylor Trensch on this second watch. This role on paper could have easily faded into the background, but Trensch has made the role a highlight.

Well I was NOT happy with Denzel after sitting through that terrible production of Othello.

I guess count me in the minority here, but I really enjoyed this. I’d seen the musical about a decade ago in Chicago and fell in love with it, but the person I went with knew nothing of the show. We both walked out gushing about this.
Renée Reid was on for Ruth this evening and she was simply sensational—charming, funny, and a stunning voice. And she was completely off-book. Aisha Jackson was equally stellar and they were perfect foils for one another. The danc

Shoshana Bean. She is incredible on recordings, but being in the room and hearing the intricacies and energy in her voice will always be superior.

I was Orchestra Center U109 for The Last Five Years. Very last row of the theatre and the last two rows of the Hudson aren’t raked so I had to ask an usher for a booster. Also, being at the back means you get all of the late seating, bathroom-going, hubub, etc.

STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW Previews Apr 13

I’m a big sucker for great design and effects so I decided to see this despite only watching the first two seasons of the show and remembering very little from that. I was a big fan of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and the magic, design, and staging of that production, so I was looking forward to this. Sorry to say I left quite disappointed. Despite a handful of very cool effects, the play itself is quite thin. The characters are paper thin and

Maleah won in an incredibly weak year and was up against: - Two people in shows that had already closed (one who already had a Tony).
- One veteran (who already has a Tony) who was the best part of a disliked show.
- The star of a div

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 3/16/25 Mar 18

Less interested in the Othello, GNGL, and Glengarry grosses (we all knew they would be high) than I am in the continued success of Maybe Happy Ending and the rising average ticket price for Mincemeat which is a great sign right before reviews. Also expecting to see Dorian Gray get pretty high as word of mouth gets out. I've never seen an audience leap to their feet so fast.

It definitely shares a lot of similarity with NETWORK, but I found that show much more exciting in its portrayal of a live news broadcast. That play had an energy that this one did not.
The live band provides a lot of transition music and 3-4 standards of the era (including one that opens the show). They mostly live on a platform stage left as part of the "in-house band" at CBS. Wonderfully tight ensemble that sound great. The saxophone, upright b

I picked up a last minute ticket for this on StubHub. No first preview gift or anything special. Show ran about 95 minutes and started 10 or so minutes late with no intermission or tech holds.
This was just okay for me. My problem is that I’m not sure there’s much of a play there. So much of the play is these news broadcasts that feature extensive use of archival footage. For much of the play, we are watching a screen that moves in and out throughout the play while Ge

OTHELLO Previews Feb 26

I saw this last night as well. Picked up a last-minute ticket on Stubhub because the curiosity was killing me. I felt like it was mostly fine. I've never been a huge fan of Kenny Leon's work with a couple of exceptions (Purlie Victorious, Topdog/Underdog), and this is exactly what I would expect from him. As others have commented, the "October 2028" is silly and unnecessary. We can tell that this is a modern setting because of the costu
