Paddington Al Hirschfeld March 2027

Although the character of Paddington has been around in the UK for decades, id say it was only with the movies and then the skit with the Queen that catapulted Paddington into beloved national treasure status and something beyond a young kids story book. Thats when he started popping up everywhere with special experiences etc. Without those things I'm not sure the show would have been as popular as it has been.

Growing up in the 80s I was aware of him but was never a large part of

PADDINGTON Broadway transfer announcement on the way?

For me it has a pretty much five star act one, about as good as musical theatre can get.

But it falls off in act 2 by dragging out the ending and with 3 or 4 filler songs that dont add much. Including the very self indulgent Bonnie Langford number. In fact Bonnie in general was pretty awful, and can't do a Scottish accent at all. Not sure her career really warrants 'west end legend' status either.

The rest of the west end cast are outstanding however. I think VH

How Much Did the Recasting Affect "Death Becomes Her"?

I really don't think the casting had much impact. Some people are acting like it was a smash hit, but even from the start its had quite modest box office. It ran out of steam as those who want to see it, had done so, and It's never caught on with tourists. Its a niche IP that won't be recognisable to most tourists and more casual theatregoers. Even though it had its viral moment on tiktok, the show itself doesn't seem to have broken into the wider pop culture

Broadway's Best Kept Secrets - Passion + Paddington

Oh I do. It's quite obvious thats what she's aiming for with her stage and film choices.

2026 Post-Tony Closures and Successors

I dont think Cats has come off that well on TV appearances so far, so I think the Tony performance would really need to be special.

The problem Cats has is it's a show already a lot of people hate. Those that do love it possibly won't be into this new concept which isn't close to the show they love. And the new concept is quite niche and likely won't attract people back who have hated the show in the past.

Two questions regarding Cynthia Erivo

It being a musical should help Passion, but I was surprised how poorly Dracula sold considering it was on sale during peak Wicked fever. I thought Cynthias name would sell it out way before previews began and the negative word of mouth got out. So I'm not so sure how much of a draw she is.

Official: Jamie Lloyd's EVITA to open on Broadway in Spring 2027

The balcony viral moment got the show a lot of attention and was arguably one of its big selling points and marketing headline grabbers.

Without that on Broadway, im curious to see how the show does and if they can come up with another gimmick that will get eyes on them

Broadway's Most Bankable Star?

Lea Michele in FG was something of a full circle moment, both from Glee and her making her whole image the second coming of Barbra Streisand. A case of perfect person in perfect role for a pop culture moment. And she sold that show for almost a whole year.

Chess is undoubtedly helped a lot by Lea being in it, but after 6 months its starting to flag a bit and there clearly aren't the same number of people willing to see her in something less obvious.

I wouldn't put h

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/3/26

I dont think a DBH cast change would make all the much difference, aside big names who then probably couldn't sing it.  I just dont think enough people are interested in it as an IP, its more of a cult following type movie than a beloved mainstream classic. And word of mouth hasnt made it a 'must see' to casual theatregoers. A new cast of broadway names may attract some theatre fans back, but would make no difference to the general public.

It had its viral 'that wa

THE LOST BOYS Reviews

The other issue The Lost Boys seems to have is a lack of interest early on from the nostalgia audience. Although ive always thought The Lost Boys more niche than something like Back To The Future, im assuming producers thought differently.  But it doesnt seem to be front loaded with sales to fans of the film who wouldnt wait for, or care about, reviews. Unlike Back to the Future which did well early on. This suggests a lack of already built in audience that movie adaptions tend to r

Will the Tony Awards renew their contract with CBS?

Youtube is the biggest streaming platform in the world, and definitely a better way of reaching younger audiences than traditional network tv.

Also, if they dont region block it on youtube, they would then open it up to a worldwide audience that usually doesnt get a look in. Which

It still IMO be better if they could find a former UK child star to make fun of than Gary Coleman.

Ragtime Tour? PBS Filming?

I could see this maybe following other LCT productions and doing a limited London run at somewhere like the Barbican (like South Pacific did). Its built in audience base would help sell a show that isnt really known over here.

Only problem with that is 2027 is already taken up there with Sunday in the Park with Bailey and Grande. Would be unusual to do 2 big musicals there in one season. But not impossible I guess.

Not sure a more commercial west end production (like the king an

Just In Time 2.0 - Matthew Morrison

Ive only got social media clips to go on, but the difference between Groff and Morrison looks night and day. With Morrison its giving very much cruise ship cabaret review. Where as Groff really exudes charisma and presence.

I didnt rate Morrison in Finding Neverland, although that was a terrible show in fairness. But he just doesnt seem to have much charisma or stage presence. He gives off the vibe of someone trying to be (or thinking) he is cool, when he isnt. Which results in t

AMADEUS to be adapted into a series starring White Lotus' Will Sharpe

I watched this when it aired in the UK last year. I love Will Sharpe, and he is very good in it, and its lovely to look at, but that was about it.  Reviews in general weren't great either.

Cameron Mackintosh Says He's Done With Broadway‚ Is He Right?

Just to say the Hamilton comparison is apt as that was what Cameron himself used. He wasnt comparing Hamilton Broadway last autumn with London last autumn. He was comparing the prices of Leslies Broadway run last year with his upcoming West End run

Jamie Lloyd-helmed EVITA revival to play the London Palladium in 2025

They might as well not move it if they can't adequately do the balcony in New York. (It's also a massive sales/marketing benefit.)

I don't recall thisconcern surroundingTom Francis's stroll - but Tom'salso not a cultural lightning rod.

Big Musicals - Will They Come Back

The way people here are dismissing a whole section of the theatre industry as unimportant and an irrelevant art form in performance and storytelling, is wild!

Even if this thread was started by a 'troll', the actual post make a valid point and some peoples reactions are worse than any troll in this instance.

Donald Trump bioplay DONALD from THE LEHMAN TRILOGY author Stefano Massini sets UK premiere

I would love to see a British team adapt the Emily Mathis interview with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for the stage, but perhaps that would seem too derivative of Frost/Nixon.

Not a play, but we've already had one movie and one 3 part mini series dramatising the Andrew interview and events around it. Plus the parod
