Gypsy Has Been a Hit -- several times. Jul 6

I still wished Arthur Laurents didnt impose his view on the Sam Mendes Revival with Bernadette Peters, it could have made even more people come and see it than not especially given what could have been a darker artistic producition. The Arthur Laurents Revival while freshened things up a bit, was made better by the group of actors chosen, Leigh Ann Larkin alone in her characterization of June, from not only If Momma was Married, but the subtle facial expressions thro

Anyone seeing Montego as Rose? Jul 6
2025, 01:24:46 PM
Montego looks young on stage, she sang what was specifically created for Audra to give that raw emotion. . However in Some People she could have easily belted the higher notes instead opted for head voice, which could be because she is building up her character emotionally. The rest of the show she delivers as you would expect for a vacation cover. She to me is a great belter but for me doesnt sit righ in classical musicals even as the Witch in Int

Sweet Charity Ending Question Jun 29

Even prior to Fosse and Neil simon Italian film maker Federick Fellini made a movie and basically she makes the same mistakes and no matter what, ends up with a guy similiar to the one she met in the beginning, which for me proves, if youend up on the same situation and dont think you are the problem, or dont change the way you have been doing, you dont change your outcome.. Or in even simpler terms doing the same thing over and over again will give you the sa

Which Death Becomes Her Is Better? Movie or Musical Jun 13
2025, 07:11:25 PM
Both are their bests in their own mediums.
The film gives full camp, with an amazing score by Alan Silvestri, MerylStreep plays into the camp. The film will always Have a nostalgic factor to it plus it's special effects for the time was revolutionary.
The musical does the same with the camp gives a bit more pathos, with a score that gives musical homages to Silvestris score, while making it its own. Plus the ending is, from what I have heard from Goldie Hawns interview

How awful that she even had to mention how much she loves her job. So many have judged from afar, said cruel things without knowing(nor should you have any right to know). If someone calls out from a show then something must have been warranted to call out. If it is something that can't be decided the day before or even a week before than so be it. We get it, if you were planning to attend and have that missed opportunity you can be upset but is it to a de

Dolly Parton Broadway Bio Musical aiming for Spring 2025 May 5

thats what I am thinking with Katie Rose Clarke will play either the older or narrator Dolly..or she and Carrie St Louis will play the version the public never sees(sans wigs and makeup) vs the public image of Dolly
aDoes Katie Rose Clarke have one eye blue and one eye brown? Is this a clue since Carrie St Louis eyes are Blue and the younger actress has brown eyes, is Katie Rose Clarke possibly portraying a version of Dolly if she didnt make it in the business what

AUDRA GYPSY Reviews Apr 22
2025, 04:28:07 PM
I agree wholeheartedly that Marin Mazzie could sing anything. And even though she and Audra have similar ways of approaching their respective singing, Marins voice had a slightly different timbre to where her high notes while could be sung legitly could also be sung belty. And while I have zero problems with Audra's take on this vocalization of Mama Rose, I honestly love her vocals in this, her high notes are definitely leaning more into legit soprano than belt

BOOP! THE MUSICAL Reviews Apr 20

ChairinMain said: "Saw the show yesterday and found it fun and charming but I essentially agree with Jesse Greene's review about the show's purposelessness. I am baffled by the show's treatment of Betty Boop as a modern day cultural icon, when I don't know a single person who considers Betty Boop to have a huge cultural footprint. When one thinks of "classic cartoons" Betty is fairly low down the list after Disney, Looney Toons, Popeye...even Droopy Dog- her

I say def go, if its not your cup of tea then at least then you'll know, however, I used to be in the bandwagon of meh, to the music, but it has grown on me. I love listening to the cast album and even though the film they made uses most of the songs, there are quite a few that didnt make the cut, and would be fun to watch it on stage.
