Stage adaptation of Jerry Herman’s MRS. SANTA CLAUS to premiere at Goodspeed in 2025!

The film was adorable fluff. The title song was catchy but the other songs faded from my mind as soon as they were done. There were a lot of subplots for the New Yorkers Mrs. Claus meets. I'll be curious to see which they flesh out on stage.

I'll be interested in the score, because I listen to it every year, and love it all.
With Mr. Herman no longer with us, I will be interested if/how the flesh out the score. I don't assume Mrs. Santa Claus is going to belt out Before the Parade Passes By, or A Little More Mascara.
Also, who has the warmth of Angela Lansbury to play her?

I love Jerry Herman, but this tv special was a miss for me. The songs went in one ear and out the other. Lansbury was great, but without her presence I don't know if it'll add up to much. We shall see.

I was going to say Sally Struthers, but she usually works with Oqunquit.

I have been unfortunate enough to see her in several of those productions. Please no.

I think Klea Blackhurst would be wonderful.

I’m also curious how they’ll bloat the score for a two and a half hour show and what songs they’ll add. Is there a trunk of unheard Jerry Herman gems? Aside from a handful of songs in the original score it seemed like the rest were trunk songs anyway.

I hope they will bring some trunk songs, this has big potential truly I loved, still love, the film! There are some great songs in the score. Dream casting for title role...Bernadette Peters..followed by MaryBeth Piel, Carolee Carmello, Victoria Clarke

It looks like it’s on Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube.

It's wonderful to see your enthusiasm for the film and its potential! Bringing in some trunk songs could definitely elevate it further. Your dream casting is spot-on—Bernadette Peters would be a powerhouse, and MaryBeth Piel, Carolee Carmello, or Victoria Clarke would all bring incredible depth to the role! https://fmapps.org

Mrs. Santa Claus is my favorite holiday movie, so I'm over the moon that this is happening. Jerry Herman was working on this before his death, so he may have written new songs for it. In addition, there's a cut song he was going to add back in. Here's an article with more info from 20 years ago: https://playbill.com/article/jerry-herman-and-mark-saltzman-adapting-mrs-santa-claus-the-musical-for-the-stage-com-122492

So judging from your other comment history, I take it you work for the show?

I clicked the link above, and noticed that tickets are no longer on sale? And when you scroll through the upcoming season… it’s no longer listed at all.
Has this been canceled? I’ll be very disappointed if that is the case. I love the film and I have tickets for Dec. I was so looking forward to seeing this live for the holidays.

Must just be a Salesforce glitch or maybe individual tix don’t go on sale until later. The show is listed on the Upcoming Shows page and they’re having auditions this month. It’s not on the homepage (from what I can see), but maybe that’s just because they’re focusing on sooner projects.

I hope you’re correct and this is still happening. Although, I was able to purchase two single tickets on June 27th.

Bummer that Goodspeed seems to be using AI to create show art.

highly doubtful, just more so done by graphic design, drawing on a computer.
anyone familiar with NYC skyline over the years does this seem like it could be around 1910(when the film took place) or does it look later like 1930s?

There appears to be a rendering of the Empire State Building (the tall one towards to the right), and possibly also 40 Wall Street (in the background furthest to the right), which were both built around 1930.
