Stage adaptation of Jerry Herman’s MRS. SANTA CLAUS to premiere at Goodspeed in 2025!

Connecticut's Goodspeed Musicals has unveiled its 2025 season, which will include a world premiere stage version of the 1996 movie musical Mrs. Santa Claus, with songs by Jerry Herman.

The musical, which will feature a book by Alexis Scheer from Mark Saltzman's screenplay, will run November 14-December 28, 2025. The property premiered on CBS in 1996 with Angela Lansbury in the title role and featuring a full-length score from Herman, reuniting with his Tony-winning Mame star. The story sees Mrs. Claus crashing 1910 New York, where she discovers a corrupt toymaker whose child workers need saving. Casting and creative team are to be announced.

No director announced yet.

The rest of their season includes Ragtime, All Shook Up, and A Chorus Line.

I'll be interested in the score, because I listen to it every year, and love it all. 

With Mr. Herman no longer with us, I will be interested if/how the flesh out the score. I don't assume Mrs. Santa Claus is going to belt out Before the Parade Passes By, or A Little More Mascara. 

Also, who has the warmth of Angela Lansbury to play her?

I was going to say Sally Struthers, but she usually works with Oqunquit."

I think Klea Blackhurst would be wonderful.

I  hope they will bring some trunk songs, this has big potential truly I loved, still love, the film!  There are some great songs in the score.   Dream casting for title role...Bernadette Peters..followed by MaryBeth Piel, Carolee Carmello, Victoria Clarke

Mrs. Santa Claus is my favorite holiday movie, so I'm over the moon that this is happening.  Jerry Herman was working on this before his death, so he may have written new songs for it.  In addition, there's a cut song he was going to add back in.  Here's an article with more info from 20 years ago: https://playbill.com/article/jerry-herman-and-mark-saltzman-adapting-mrs-santa-claus-the-musical-for-the-stage-com-122492

So judging from your other comment history, I take it you work for the show?

I clicked the link above, and noticed that tickets are no longer on sale? And when you scroll through the upcoming season… it’s no longer listed at all. 
Has this been canceled? I’ll be very disappointed if that is the case. I love the film and I have tickets for Dec. I was so looking forward to seeing this live for the holidays.

I hope you’re correct and this is still happening. Although, I was able to purchase two single tickets on June 27th.

There appears to be a rendering of the Empire State Building (the tall one towards to the right), and possibly also 40 Wall Street (in the background furthest to the right), which were both built around 1930.
