The 77th Annual TONY Awards Performances Jun 17

The add-on of "Empire State Of Mind" was frustrating. Pre-recorded w/ Jay-Z just didn't belong. Maybe would have been a good opener or closer. As for "Stereophonic", it was frustratingly too short to really rate, but it should have been in top three (if not #1). They should have skipped Jay-Z and given us the full "Masquerade". For the rest:

ILLINOISE Reviews Apr 28
2024, 01:54:35 PM
Wow! Such a great show. Had my tickets set this weekend’s annual Spring theatre trip (Cabaret, Tommy, Hell’s Kitchen, and Merrily We Roll Along) for quite a while and was bummed I’d miss this late transfer. But a surprise Thursday matinee made this one possible!
Fantastic in every way possible

The Who's Tommy @ The Goodman Jul 9

I loved the show back in 1993 & was excited to hear there was a remounting. Based on the official reviews and commentary here, I decided I couldn't wait for a possible Broadway transfer. The quick trip to Chicago was well worth it.
The orchestrations were fairly identical (yeah!) and the cast clearly worked hard. The "futuristic" angle was interesting and I was personally glad Uncle Ernie's character was reduced somewhat. Several scenes

SOME LIKE IT HOT On Broadway - News & Discussion Thread Nov 20
2022, 04:03:30 PM
Just heading home from my Fall theatre trip & gotta say this show was my favorite of the long weekend. Agree with comments regarding repetition, but I really loved the score - and the cast (especially the five primary roles) was great.

Nov Trip Planning Sep 30
2022, 07:20:07 AM
Headed to NYC in mid-Nov and working on our tickets. I have three of the four slots filled:
Almost Famous Funny Girl (disappointed with Beanie's take, but excited for Lea's) Some Like It Hot
Already saw "Into The Woods" (which I loved) and choosing between "Kimberly Akimbo" and "Beautiful Noise". I'd like to see both (and I grew up on Neil Diamond music), though the smart choice would seem to be KA. An

Coming in this weekend & chose this show specifically to see him. Very disappointed. Would I be eligible for a refund to go see something else?

Starlight Express on Broadway Apr 26

I saw this twice on Broadway - once in 1987, once in 1988 Sure, I see the show's many faults now... but back then, I absolutely loved it.

Company Ruled The Weekend Apr 16
2022, 07:45:52 AM
Had a blast last weekend in NYC... and Saturday evening's "Company" way exceeded my expectations. Maybe Esparza will always be my favorite Bobby, but Lenk was really great. Lupone, Doyle (and frankly the whole cast) were perfect. The applause after "Not Getting Married" and "The Ladies Who Lunch" were justifiably extended. And the sets were very clever.
Scores:
Company **** (out of 4) Take Me Out

Love them both & I've seen them both multiple times, but it's been YEARS. Just thought it might be fun to visit an "old friend". Thanks for your thoughts on this. Sounds like either would be great.

Thanks. Kinda what I figured, but if the first one runs late... You know the drill.

Hello there. Excited to get to NYC this weekend. Was disappointed to lose "A Strange Loop", but have the following on tap:
TAKE ME OUT FUNNY GIRL COMPANY THE MINUTES
Noticed a couple of older favorites have Sunday evening performances & thinking about adding one: "Phantom" (5pm) or "Wicked" (7pm). haven't seen either in 10+ years.
Any thoughts on which of these holds up better

DIANA: THE MUSICAL On Netflix - News & Discussion Thread Oct 4
2021, 07:14:31 AM
Well, I'm so glad to have Broadway "back" and excited for my November trip (Caroline, Or Change, Six & Lehman Trilogy). "Diana" really wasn't my radar for this Fall, but was glad to see another show filmed for streaming - though I really questioned the marketing strategy behind this considering the production opens in a month.
Jeanna de Waal is good as Diana. Pretty. Nice voice. But the material given her and the remaining cast [especially for

What’s the last show you saw on Broadway before its closing? Mar 18
2020, 02:00:24 PM
For November trip to NYC, we saw “Moulin Rouge”, “Tina!” & “The Inheritance”. But next trip’s lineup likely in jeopardy (4/15-18) with “Take Me Out”, “Flying Over Sunset”, “Caroline or Change”, “The Lehman Trilogy”, “Company” & “Six”. 😢

Six or Girl from the North Country Feb 14

Thanks for the insight. Some very helpful information.
I'm clearly torn. I enjoy all types of theatre (musicals, plays, drama, comedy), but tend to favor those shows that have some depth or challenge thought. And, for musicals, have a great score!
Decisions. Decisions.

Six or Girl from the North Country Feb 14

Hello everyone. I’m struggling between Six or Girl From The North Country as my last show this Spring. Looking for advice. Last Fall I saw Moulin Rouge, Tina, & The Inheritance. This Spring I’ve got tickets to Take Me Out, Flying Over Sunset, Caroline or Change, The Lehman Trilogy & Company. Was leaning towards GFTNC as I like Bob Dylan & enjoyed both Once and The Band’s Visit. But after reading the preview discussions, I&r
