Rank the 2026 Tony Performances

Jun 8, 2026 — 9:48:30 AM

1. Opening number2. Chicago tribute3. The Rocky Horror Show (messy fun)4. The Lost Boys (misses the show's iconic staging, but still enjoyed)5. The Book of Mormon (not the show's strongest song, but includes multiple cast members and gave Gad a chance to lead)6. Ragtime (great voices from all)7. Cats: The Jellicle Ball (staging and camera work a mess)8. In Memoriam9. Two Strangers (should have just done "New York" )10. Schmigadoon (not disappointed I missed this show) 11. A Chorus Line (she s...

I also had a ticket for today. The box office asked if I wanted an alternate date. I declined and received a full refund. They were very nice about it.

Sad. I really enjoyed, but I guess inevitable. Easily my favorite score of the season.

The 78th Annual Tony Award Nominations for 2025

Jun 8, 2025 — 4:35:32 PM

Not sure if this has been discussed, but given that so many shows try to open towards the end of the season, is it likely that Best Play, Best Musical and the revivals will all have opened last year?

Cabaret Casting Rumor: Orville Peck & Eva Noblezada

Apr 21, 2025 — 5:46:36 PM

I saw the original cast last spring, but revisited this show on Saturday to see Orville Peck. He did not disappoint. I enjoyed his take far more than Redmayne's. I'd definitely see again if I lived in the area.

The 77th Annual TONY Awards Performances

Jun 17, 2024 — 2:55:09 PM

The add-on of "Empire State Of Mind" was frustrating. Pre-recorded w/ Jay-Z just didn't belong. Maybe would have been a good opener or closer. As for "Stereophonic", it was frustratingly too short to really rate, but it should have been in top three (if not #1). They should have skipped Jay-Z and given us the full "Masquerade". For the rest:1. Illinoise2. Merrily We Roll Along3. The Outsiders (the "rumble" sealed the deal here)4. Cabaret5. Chita's Tribute6. Water For Elephants7. Tommy8. In Me...

Wow! Such a great show. Had my tickets set this weekend’s annual Spring theatre trip (Cabaret, Tommy, Hell’s Kitchen, and Merrily We Roll Along) for quite a while and was bummed I’d miss this late transfer. But a surprise Thursday matinee made this one possible!Fantastic in every way possible

The Who's Tommy @ The Goodman

Jul 9, 2023 — 10:10:36 AM

I loved the show back in 1993 & was excited to hear there was a remounting. Based on the official reviews and commentary here, I decided I couldn't wait for a possible Broadway transfer. The quick trip to Chicago was well worth it.The orchestrations were fairly identical (yeah!) and the cast clearly worked hard. The "futuristic" angle was interesting and I was personally glad Uncle Ernie's character was reduced somewhat. Several scenes/songs continue to "wow", including the "Overture", "Sensa...

SOME LIKE IT HOT On Broadway - News & Discussion Thread

Nov 20, 2022 — 4:03:30 PM

Just heading home from my Fall theatre trip & gotta say this show was my favorite of the long weekend. Agree with comments regarding repetition, but I really loved the score - and the cast (especially the five primary roles) was great.

Nov Trip Planning

Sep 30, 2022 — 7:20:07 AM

Headed to NYC in mid-Nov and working on our tickets. I have three of the four slots filled:Almost FamousFunny Girl (disappointed with Beanie's take, but excited for Lea's)Some Like It HotAlready saw "Into The Woods" (which I loved) and choosing between "Kimberly Akimbo" and "Beautiful Noise". I'd like to see both (and I grew up on Neil Diamond music), though the smart choice would seem to be KA. Any reason BN should get the last slot? Or is KA the no-brainer here? I'll be back in the Spring t...

Starlight Express on Broadway

Apr 26, 2022 — 8:24:02 PM

I saw this twice on Broadway - once in 1987, once in 1988 Sure, I see the show's many faults now... but back then, I absolutely loved it.

Company Ruled The Weekend

Apr 16, 2022 — 7:45:52 AM

Had a blast last weekend in NYC... and Saturday evening's "Company" way exceeded my expectations. Maybe Esparza will always be my favorite Bobby, but Lenk was really great. Lupone, Doyle (and frankly the whole cast) were perfect. The applause after "Not Getting Married" and "The Ladies Who Lunch" were justifiably extended. And the sets were very clever.Scores:Company **** (out of 4)Take Me Out ***1/2 Funny Girl ***The Minutes ***Unfortunately, lost my ticket to "A Strange Loop" due to Covid c...

Love them both & I've seen them both multiple times, but it's been YEARS. Just thought it might be fun to visit an "old friend". Thanks for your thoughts on this. Sounds like either would be great.

Hello there. Excited to get to NYC this weekend. Was disappointed to lose "A Strange Loop", but have the following on tap:TAKE ME OUTFUNNY GIRLCOMPANYTHE MINUTESNoticed a couple of older favorites have Sunday evening performances & thinking about adding one: "Phantom" (5pm) or "Wicked" (7pm). haven't seen either in 10+ years. Any thoughts on which of these holds up better these days? IAnd is "Phantom" really an option given my afternoon show is scheduled to end at 4:30. Could I even get from ...
