What Next For The Majestic?  May 9 2024, 08:22:09 AM

I could be wrong - but I don't think there is any blue. I think what is reading as blue is actually silver leaf reflecting the cool-toned fluorescent work lights.

Ok yea I don't like most of this renovation. The chandelier, carpet and lobby areas are too modern and look like they belong in a Vegas casino. They don't fit into the theater's existing architecture at all. I also don't like the color scheme but I realize that may just be my personal taste.

Yea I've been in the Palace a couple times before the reno and much prefer that color scheme.

I would need to see more photos or in-person, but I still don't really like this color scheme.

ALADDIN Reviews  May 5 2024, 04:26:32 PM

I'm going to see Aladdin for the first time next weekend. Has anyone seen it lately and have opinions on the production/current cast? I've heard it's not great and the audiences are terrible so just trying to prepare myself lol. I'm taking my 5 year old nephew (his first Broadway show) so I'm excited no matter what :)

How is Jinkx Monsoon as Audrey.  May 2 2024, 07:06:39 PM

That video of Jinkx is just lovely. Nothing sounds funny about the keys of that song, but maybe it's in other parts of the score?

She seems like her interpretation is the closest to Ellen Greene so far in this production, and she seems to have found the same kind of balance between humor and sincerity.

SIX Lottery Tickets  May 2 2024, 09:35:52 AM

Any current experiences with the Six lottery? Wondering if seats are still front row?

Also interested in TKTS tickets - is it possible to get really close orchestra seats?

Maybe that also explains Sweeney Todd's win for sound design last year. I sat front row Mezz and it was truly the worst sound design I have ever heard at a Broadway show.

That exact method has sustained Chicago on Broadway for many many years now. Not saying it will work for Cabaret but but there is evidence it could.

Chicago won best revival, had a film adaptation that won best picture like 3-4 years into its run and cost almost nothing t

That may be a viable option for filling a small West End theatre, but it's not going to sustain a Broadway run. Finding an A-list movie star who wants to be a replacement in a poorly reviewed Broadway show is going to be tough."

They aren't even remotely close to sold out for the handful of dates I just checked in June.

Care to elaborate? The folks who liked this seem outnumbered so I'm more curious to hear from those who enjoyed it. I don't see it until June...

I think they realized keeping everything a secret is kind of pointless because we already know what the London production looks like. Although the phone stickers have cut down drastically on social media posts of the interior.

I’ve seen this production ten times now (both here and London) and it’s not because I’m in love with the production but because “Cabaret” is, I consider, a perfect musical. And even if this particular production falls flat in a number of places, a REALLY good cast can make you look past most of them and I like to see what each new set of actors bring to it. SUNSET BLVD to transfer to Broadway  Apr 18 2024, 06:25:51 PM

I splurged and got premium seats for this - has anyone seen a show at the St. James and done a package with the VIP lounge access? Curious what the experience was like and where the room is in the theater. Does the lounge have it's own restrooms? Any info is appreciated :)

In combination with performers entering/exiting through the audience, a low stage and an immersive environment. Maybe people think they don't have to behave like they are at a Broadway show when it no longer looks or feels like a Broadway show?
