I miss the old days when gay composers and lyricists would write about something other than being gay.

If you go to Cheyenne Jackson (is that his name?)'s website you can listen to an audio download of him singing "Girl, You Make me want to wait" (I think that's the name of the song.)

re: Is Wonderful Town a good show too see? Oct 5
2004, 04:12:38 AM
I work as a substitute usher and get to see a lot of Broadway shows, and Wonderful Town is one of the few shows that I want to sit inside and watch everytime I'm at the Hirschfeld. If you are a huge fan of the modern pop rock musical then "Wonderful Town" may not be your cup of joe. But if you want to see a classic example of good music theater writing and standout performances (I'm speaking of Donna not Brooke) then WT is the show to see on Broadway. "Delightful" best describes the show.

For those of you who are groveling at Idina's green little toes remember that you could have been just as easily kissing Stephanie's feet had the producers been brave enough to go with an unknown. I had heard that "Defying Gravity" was originally written for Stephanie and that she really owns it when she sings it.

re: Is Dracula worth seeing? Oct 5

If you've already seen everything else on broadway go see Dracula. If you love beautiful costumes, pretty singing voices, and female nudity, go see Dracula. If you like seeing people hanging from wires being dragged across the stage, go see Dracula. If you like well developed characters, beautiful music and clever lyrics go see Wonderful Town.

I wouldn't be too chipper if I had to wash all that green make-up off and then go outside for a photo-op.

The women get the best songs in the show. Guido may be the lead, but he is best when he functions as the glue that holds everything together.

re: Brooke is really replacing Donna in Wonderful Town Aug 21

I don't think it's nastiness. I think it is a reaction to the sorry state of the music theater. I have no problem with Brooke in Cabaret or Grease at least she is somewhat right for those parts. But Ruth Sherwood the older UNATTRACTIVE sister? Brooke was a model!! She is so miscast and on top of that she doesn't have the music comedy chops that Donna and Rosalind Russell have. The only reason she is playing this role is because of her name. And that is frustrating to anyone who loves music

Brooke Shields Set for Wonderful Town - playbill.com Aug 21
2004, 02:22:05 AM
I am very disturbed. I thought this was one of Michael Dale's joke articles. The Weissler's must be behind this. They are notorious for casting (or miscasting as the case may be) anyone with a name who is willling to be on broadway. How can Brooke play Ruth Sherwood?? She's a friggin model!! All of Ruth's line's about how her younger sister is so much more attractive are going to require an interesting delivery. And that is the least of our worries, what about the singing? What about
