Why No DREAMGIRLS Yet?
 Dec 9 2024, 01:56:42 AM

I wish we had gotten the Amber Riley performance on Broadway in any production.

What makes their operating costs so high for such a small cast? Is it due to the technical elements?

Thrilled to see MAYBE HAPPY ENDING gaining momentum!

Everyone pointing to GIMMICK as the best part brings me back to one of Arthur Laurents books where he details Sam Mendes being in turmoil with the Bernadette production. He says to him - “well the stripper number kills”, and Laurents basically says it’s designed to and if that’s the highlight you’re royally f***ed.

Original movie musical EMILIA PEREZ starring Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, and Selena Gomez wins three prizes at Cannes

It’s hard to express just how bad this film is.

Jinkx Monsoon hints possible Broadway return

Thrilled for Jinkx! A great role for her.

The new title is absolutely awful.

How on earth is their weekly operating costs 700K? Is it all of the additional technical elements somehow?

“Happy All The Time” is in the regional licensed version so I would be shocked if they reverted.

OH MARY has to be close to recouping right?

Sadie Sink in JOHN PROCTOR IS THE VILLAIN - Broadway (Spring 2025)

I think the reach of STRANGER THINGS is being grossly

underestimated. It’d also not a musical - I imagine the sales will absolutely cover the running costs at bare minimum.

City Centers 24-25: Ragtime, Urinetown, LaChiusa's Wild Party, Love Life

Do we need to transfer every single one of these? I fear we lose out on a truly gorgeous revival of RAGTIME by moving over this which will have a reduced orchestra from the Encores production and most likely no true set.

Water for Elephants’ to Close on Broadway, Dec 8th

Someone said this in another thread, but it seems the theater owners are attempting to perhaps lessen the surge of April openings by allowing the spring shows to begin previews/open earlier in 2025. Both this show and THE NOTEBOOK have certainly had enough weeks where the landlords can opt to give them the boot based on their agre

Gavin Creel has passed away

This awful news has just consumed me all day. It’s beyond heartbreaking. Every new tribute makes me cry.

Getting to hear him sing “I Turned the Corner” at the Millie reunion in 2018 is a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life. A singular talent taken far too early.

Romeo + Juliet marketing...? F**ked?

It’s fully staged in the round so I’m unsure what some of you were expecting from the scenic design.

Mackenzie Kurtz as Jovie would be pretty perfect casting.

Not shocked to see Part 1 be rated PG. I imagine Part 2 will be PG-13 just based on the remaining material.

Beanie Feldstein & More to Star in SPELLING BEE at Kennedy Center

Professional rights to produce the show regionally are restricted for 2025, so this is almost certain to be aiming for Broadway.

I Feel Like Disney Might Not Do Shows On Broadway Anymore
 Aug 21 2024, 12:16:26 AM

ALADDIN has been running for over ten years, and MARY POPPINS had a pretty good run until they decided to close it to bring in ALADDIN. NEWSIES ran for two years and recouped its investment. They literally own a Broadway house - as long as they have commercial properties they will have a presence on Broadway.
