Cabaret looks like it'll be limping to its close. Porter is really doing nothing for the box office- and last week it had the lowest average ticket price.

Crazy first preview number for Mamma Mia! They’re about to have a good 6 months.
Great start for MAMMA MIA!, as expected. I’d like to think it’ll be grossing around $2 million at its height.
Numbers are otherwise down, with schools about to start back up.
Happy trails to Joey Fatone, Jeanette Bayardelle, Tituss Burgess, Conrad Ricamora, James Scully, Bianca Leigh, and longtime SIX alternate Jenny Mollet.
I’m shocked but not surprised that people are paying top dollar for MAMMA MIA. Good on them.
CABARET, I fear, is going to fold by Labor Day. They cannot sustain another 2+ months with sales that pitiful. Couple that with the videos going around of Billy taking a hacksaw to the score and I believe we are looking at a show in freefall that probably should’ve quit at the end of Orville/Eva.
I think Hell's Kitchen's days are definitely numbered.
Great start for Mamma Mia, which is not surprising.
As others have said, Mamma Mia! is going to be a juggernaut during it's interim on Broadway.
Thrilled that John Proctor is still doing strong business post-Sadie.
I'm curious if this is the end of the line for Gatsby. It's run much longer than anyone thought it would but it appears to be running out of steam despite it being tourist season. If the rumors are true that Jeremy Jordan is planning a return engagement for the holidays, I think the odds are high that they announce a January closing. Good for them, though. I'm glad they've run as long as they have.
I know I've been doomsaying Cabaret ever since I saw the insane offer papers for this revival...but even I wouldn't have predicted that they would post a weekly gross this low. If they knew recoupment was out of the question, they should have just closed on a high with Orville and Eva. Billy's interviews and the released audio of I Don't Care Much seem to have had a decidedly negative impact...pretty brutal considering they are solely relying on him to sell tickets. At least it was nice of the producers to give Marisha this well deserved opportunity. If anything can come from this mess, I hope she can parlay this into more roles in the States.
Anyway...another $550,000 shoveled into the fire!

ATG doesn’t know what they’re doing. They really thought people were gonna rush to see Cabaret after the closing announcement. They should stop producing and just be a landlord. Maybe call Jordan Roth in for some help.

Boy even with Jean Smart back Call Me Izzy is still only playing to 50-ish percent houses, what a disaster

The capacity numbers for them have been bad, but the average ticket price has healthy.
Wow, the Cabaret situation is dreadful. I suppose I'm literally the biggest fan in the world of this pairing based on some of the reaction, but it is eye watering. Not a good look/sign for Billy's career and not the best debut for Marisha. I hope that she is seen by the right 'important' people though for them to reconsider her for Broadway roles in future if this can be some kind of an informal audition. I don't think I can hear "Maybe this time" sung by anyone else anymore.

As usual, you have no idea what you're talking about. ATG owns the theatre (and the lucrative concessions business), so they'll continue to have that income every week. It's the other investors who are seeing their money evaporate.
Also, Jordan Roth is too busy "workshopping" his new one-person fashion show at the Louvre -- and he doesn't give a flying fig about Broadway anymore.

I don’t think so. I looked at the graph trend and it seems like it ebbs and flows at a pretty steady rate, not really plummeting. I think the earliest they may wrap things up would be when the national tour launches, but with the lack of new musicals coming in (only QOV) and 3-4 revivals, the market could probably sustain HK staying open.

Billy Porter number is heartbreaking. I thought he had a big following after Pose and Kinky Boots. Ouch.
Alicia Keys numbers are stunning too.

Porter's lack of box office appeal was predicted by many here.

It does ebb and flow some but I always look at average ticket price as the best view of how a show is doing and it is among the lowest of all shows and most of its lowest weeks in that category have been this summer.

It was certainly going to be a test of his appeal, but I don't think anyone foresaw it being this bad. I was expecting numbers at least comparable to the average that Orville and Eva brought in- decent-ish but not amazing.
It could get better, I suppose, but if they couldn't at least juice the box office for his debut week- which is typically a pretty easy win for a new cast- it doesn't look promising.

Tough to make a dent when you’re the fourth replacement in a tepidly received revival (and when you’ve sapped yourself of goodwill due press appearances and audio of your performance).

He burned through his relevance pretty quickly. I'd be delighted to not hear him pontificate for another decade or so.

Cabaret also had the lowest average ticket price out of all the shows on Broadway this past week at $81.
Cabaret was struggling for a long time and they decided upon a Fall closing date long before the current cast. Very similar numbers most of June, it has nothing to do with the cast who are incredible in the roles. Cabaret was never the hit everyone predicted because people are wanting to see something fun, not depressing.
Awesome for Mamma Mia which kinda confirms the whole "the world is burning and people want an escape" thing.

Why would they keep burning money every week?
Crusty Bagel said: "Why would they keep burning money every week?"
I’d imagine that if they’re making enough from alcohol and candy sales, even to break even weekly, they might want to keep it open in case of a rush in the final few weeks. It basically gives them an excuse to run a bar.

I've heard from people involved that the decision to close in October was a rather recent one, made earlier this summer.
