The show MUST go on ?
When would they announce cancellations for Broadway, Off-Broadway, Roundabout, LCT -- matinees (2 or 3 pm) ? -- evening shows?

8am and nothing. Supposed to start coming down steadily around noon with blizzard conditions starting up around 6pm.

I’d guess the blockbusters do both shows, everyone else just does a matinee. Of course, if MTA goes, all bets are off.

this is possibly going to be the biggest snowstorm in 15 years. The league should be canceling shows.

Just got a cancellation email for my return flight to NYC late this afternoon as are all evening options and 2/3 of my options for tomorrow. Clearly, the airlines think this will be a big deal.

To be fair, airlines have to be far more proactively responsive to inclement weather (or even the possibility of it).
I assume we’ll see cancellation of any evening shows, but I doubt we’ll see many matinee cancellations unless there are transit shutdowns in the afternoon.

I am VERY curious to see how Operation Mincemeat handles this. After the brouhaha regarding the extra performance, if they cancel it, you will have a LOT of pissed off people. I can envision the producers sweating right now and I feel bad for the Telecharge and box office staff about to take the brunt of this because none of this will be their fault.

Its all just interesting insight into how media/crowd think works. last month there was nonstop handwringing and questioning and outrage and worry---the storm was being discussed in earnest days in advance, and people were wondering how matinees would go on given the possibility of 8 to 10 inches.
now theyre predicting minimum 12 inches with 60mph winds- not passable conditions--and theres just this weird silence? How will all the theatergoers at Mincemeat get home if its a full on blizzard? What is the plan? Everyone was furious with the producers of Chicago/Wicked but now? Everything is vibes.
My Bigfoot show was smartly canceled. I Would not have risked it anyway.

I think the reason for the silence is that the "storm" according to radar is really expected to begin around 7/8. Accuweather says no measurable snow until 8pm, and 3.6 inches on the ground at 11pm tonight. The brunt of this storm is really midnight on. Because of that sounds like there's no risk of MTA/public transit shutting down, its tomorrow thats the real issue.

For those who don't know, what's the backstory here? I honestly can't believe anyone is going to be upset about this.

The long story short is that they decided to add an extra evening performance today due to overwhelming demand to see the final OG Cas performance. However, this pissed off a lot of people who bought tickets already for the matinee, thinking they were going to see the final performance, leading to a headache between the producers, Telecharge, and patrons to rebook people to the later performance while they proceeded to up charge tickets that were exchanged.

Absolutely. In sharing my flight cancellation experience for today and tomorrow, I wasn't suggesting theaters should follow their example. Was just adding another data point to what is unfolding.

So, if Operation Mincemeat doesn’t cancel it will be a pretty dark and empty theater area with only one show going on.
I know it’s a special show (I have tickets), but it feels irresponsible not to cancel.

BroadwayWorld with the late update. All evening shows cancelled except for OM. However, Chicago has posted that their evening show hasn't been determined yet.

Fans are going to be upset over anything regardless and are too coddled as it is, so just do the responsible thing and cancel that OM show and they can just cope.

Agree with Kad.
As someone with tickets to tonight’s OM (after navigating the nonsense of the added show), I feel they need to cancel and refund and just be done with the whole mess.
