PADDINGTON Broadway transfer announcement on the way?
Posted: 6/14/26 at 12:37pm
I mean, after that Tonys opening number, nobody should be surprised. It was basically a soft launch of the transfer.

And incredibly lucky for them that the opening number hook already had the world "marmalade" in it. That's some serious free marketing.

June 17th is the first game England plays in the World Cup, maybe the announcement will coincide.

I can’t wait for the official announcement! I hope tickets go on sale immediately.

Along those lines, how much do we think they paid for that opening number shoutout?

Yea, today in Soho Broadway, Prince and Spring Streets

These are the flyers that are dropped on the audience during “Where’s Paddington”, causing a mass rush for them when the lights come up. It wasn’t until my fourth time seeing it that i was actually able to grab one.

This feels like a spoiler for anyone who hasn’t seen it…?

The song (which is available on the cast recording) is literally about this exact drawing/flyer. No harm meant.

There's already a cast album? Cool.
I'm assuming this won't open until next Spring, so I'm trying not to get too invested yet & just stay focused on what will be around when I next visit in the Fall.
Is this rumored to be going into the Hirschfeld? So probably not enough time to open inn the Fall.
What's next for the Lunt- Fontanne?

“The Warriors” is rumored for the Lunt with some one-person show beforehand, if I’m not mistaken?

Some people have been actively avoiding the cast recording in the hopes to go into the Broadway mounting relatively blind…
Whatever - anyway, this announcement is clearly imminent.

I have no idea what’s happening here. I mentioned flyers are dropped in the audience. I didn’t say Fiyero is the scarecrow. If the person after me just said “that might be a spoiler” instead of reposting what i said, i would have edited my post to make it a spoiler. But really.

Seems like if one is avoiding any kind of details about the show itself, they should just avoid discussions about the show and wait for the press releases announcing pertinent details about the transfer.

The flyer in question is included in the souvenir programme, and posted at the merch counters so it's not a spoiler.

Dammit, Jordan! You just ruined Wicked for all of us. How dare you.

I just posted a video about this and one of the people in my comments told me that they chatted with one of the folks putting up the posters (possibly an actor), it looks like they've created an inner marketing side plot: the basic idea is Paddington himself took a flight from London's Heathrow Airport to New York City and was lost upon arrival. they're hoping he is "found" on Tuesday or as early as today. They plan to make an announcement when the bear is found. very creative marketing strategy if you ask me

As far as spoilers, my understanding is that the musical largely follows the first movie, right?
I have seen the musical but not the movie(s) so I could be wrong. However, the marketing campaign makes me wonder if they might be considering Americanizing the plot a bit. As impressive as the show is, I thought part of the magic was that it was such a love letter to London and its (not to subtle) message to embrace its diversity. Would changing London to New York, work?

I don’t think they’re going to Americanize it…just seems wrong to do so

Changing London to New York would be pretty much antithetical to everything to do with Paddington.

I suppose the announcement is definitely happening tomorrow…

They aren’t going to Americanise it. What a silly idea
