DOG DAY AFTERNOON Previews

Mar 25, 2026 — 10:21:04 AM

Thanks for the thoughtful, detailed response. Such a shame to read that about this production. Had high hopes that this would be a gritty, suspenseful, can’t-miss production. Will still see it, but need to dial back my expectations.

Think I’m with the producers on this one. They’ve trimmed the running time and dialed back the comedy. Two positives as I see it. Can anyone confirm? Does the performance feel tighter and a bit more tense?

The Outsiders is the most Genre elevating musical since Hamilton (IMO)

Jun 1, 2024 — 9:28:47 PM

Shows rarely evolve the entire genre of theater. There have been a few that make the Musical Theatre landscape take notice and have to be better than it was before that Musical. West Side Story, Gypsy, Sweeney Todd, Phantom, Les MIs, Ms Saigon, Ragtime, RENT, Book of Mormon, Hamilton (to name a few) and now (IMO) The Outsiders. The fight scene alone i Act 2 should win its own tony award for actually portraying a real fight scene on stage. Unlike basically every other fight scene before it. It'...

Paradise square easily had the best performance of the night. That show is going to sell a ton of tix. Wow.

A STRANGE LOOP On Broadway - News & Discussion Thread

Jackson’s score, but I think my primary issue with the show last night (aside from the book, which I maintain I found to be too much of a therapy session) was Jaquel Spivey’s performance as Usher. Where Larry Owens’s vocal performance feels outspoken and brash, Jaquel feels withdrawn and constantly introspective. It makes the final moment - “A Strange Loop” - feel like a contin...

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.-mlk jrI look forward to the day when this board and this community can talk about the content of the talent in the shows again rather than the color of the people's skin who were cast.

THE MUSIC MAN Reviews

Feb 11, 2022 — 7:28:37 AM

Maybe...cancelling one of the greatest entertainment producers of the last century wasn't the best idea. Maybe broadway shows need intelligent successful producers to guide creative teams to help make the show spectacular. Maybe..A lead producer would have helped bring the show to where it needed to get to. Maybe we can allow people to apologize for their actions and let them try again rather than banishing them to the upside down without understanding the consequences of our actions.

Ciara Renée is the Next Jenna in WAITRESS on Broadway

Nov 2, 2021 — 10:09:50 AM

Without Sara B, performing in this show during the slow times, waitress would have closed after the first 2 years. She was like Billy Joe in American Idiot who had to keep coming in to make money for the show.

How is Broadway selling?

Sep 16, 2021 — 9:51:54 AM

When the tri-state area and surrounding domestic sales start to slow (which will happen soon) then we will know. International tourism is a huge demographic in Broadway tix sales. International tourists aren't flocking to a country that was just deemed a hotspot by the EU. Its gonna get dicey unless the US slows down its cases. (Hey red states..maybe get vaccinated) The EU has warned its nations about non essential americans traveling to their nations. See below:"The European Union recommende...

Funny Girl 2022 Revival

Aug 11, 2021 — 3:49:49 PM

This thing is gonna close before it opens. No one sees revivals unless a massive global star is in the lead role (beanie is not even close to that) or if it's produced at lincoln center with a massive subscription base to keep it going. This is horrendously poor casting. Whoever invested In this better have an out clause

Yes, i'm just trying to understand the ROI on a BFA in Musical Theatre while racking up 150k of debt (after looking at the avg tutitions of the schools people are talking about on here and googling others). Seems insanely difficult for kids to pay that off doing theatre. I get it if you are going into medicine or law, or finance, engineering, etc..but art? Something seems off with the whole thing.

Actors' Equity To Expand Membership

AEA should start auditioning people to be in the union. Every year there is a signup and you come in or send in a tape and the UNION decides who should join the union, not a regional theatre. Then there is some sort of "level" of talent in the union. Instead of someone going on a childrens tour playing a donkey and getting their union card at the end of that
